1st car and how much was your insurance that year

1979 mini 1275 gt well modded and everything declared!,  £410 tpft in 1995 , has been virtually the same since for the cars I have had and now I have a 54 plate transporter at £600 fully comp and my 83 mk1 gti at £150 fully comp

I also feel for all the young ones that have had to fork out insurance that costs more than the cars are worth, madness!

So 2010 on a 1983 Mk1 1.1 Golf C 3 door black
They asked for £2363 TPFT which worked out at a £473 deposit and £197 a month :/

Its horrific, but it has to be done :/

have you shopped round m8 as that sounds really stupid

yes i shopped around for literally a solid week, and the qoutes i was getting were nothing compared :/

that sucks big time, did you try classic car etc, and the ov trys with go compare becuase i'm sure there must be a better deal out there unless, and i on't mean no offense by this u have a conviction etc becuase i'd refuse that at that price

My First Car was is my current 1100 cc totally stock mk 1.. 3dr …     the car cost me £675  …. the insurance cost me £2090 which was third party fire and theft …. with the car in my dads name and his as the policy holder and 'main driver …ish' and my brother as the second driver and me as an occasional driver and thats with the car kept in a garage overnight and secure car park through day . AND ! a capped milage :O

First car in 1992 was a Lancia Delta :redfaced: .Can't remember how much it was to insure but the year after i bought my first of six mk1 gti's. It was a Helios blue Campaign and it cost £995 to buy and £1200 tpft to insure! Damn thing nearly killed me as well!! wrote it off,sold it to a specialist in Oxon(was Crazyquiff around then?!) who picked it up on his low loader,took it back to his unit and then some fucker nicked the p-slots that night :roll:

my 1.3 carbed citi was £1700 to ensure in my name ended up puting myself as a named driver on my mums policy £450!!

that was last may, got a quote with the tdi in it £1000 even though its about twice as powerfull  insurance companys are messed up …

My Third car was an XR3i (Britains most stolen car at the time) . I was
20 yrs old and paid £130 per month, 18 years ago.
Which was a lot of money back then.

In ansewr to the thread, first car was a Mini 850cc cant recall what the insurance was?
think it was about £60 per month ish.
