Your car history!

Oh Dear straight to the hall of shame for me…

A reg fiesta, went over a broken pallet on an Island 2 tyre blow out and hit a lamp post…..  ouch  that hurt.

Y reg metro reg beginging with TOX it was toxic, new head gasket, starter, discs, pads rear beam and bushes etc etc etc.
gave it away as no one wanted to buy it.

D reg Nova Antibbes was a limited edition, smashed up by a woman putting her make up on and not watching where she was going.  :banghead:
Green Nova 1.3 GL great car never let me down till I hit a fox on the A38 near buron       :banghead:
Allway's wanted a golf cabby   :dontknow:  :dontknow:
I run a polo 1.6 on T plate, this is my winter car and my Cabby is my summer car love it, wind blowing around your head etc, plenty of noise, saves talking to my Doris lol, no seriously I must get a wind blocker lol.
It's brill uncovering the Cabby, fresh fuel, put the battery back in, one turn of the Key and away you go………..!!!!!!!!!!!!

Here's my past ownership in full, though I need to tidy it and I'm not seeing a couple of cars I had that I should have counted - I haven't counted cars bought purely to sell on or borrowed, as I've driven a lot more than this (and that would let me put a Jaguar in there, too).

Here's my current workhorse as we're moving house - my £500 Xantia from eBay, which is see lurking in the new garage whilst I unload. That's going to be a studio when I'm done though - although the Clipper will live in it until I have a new roof.

I could post stories about most of the cars, but it'd be like War and Peace! The Allegro didn't make it to my 17th, so I generally regard the Chevette as my first car, and the cars in bold trace my "main" car. If there's no end date, I can't remember when it went, but I can usually remember why!

1991 XR2i (red) - I seriously wish I had kept that car.    I sold it as the insurance groups changed at one stage and it was going to go up from £600 to £1700 (or something ridiculous)  I spent my life negotiating with the police over my speed.    I saw one for sale today and was going to go back for a look.  Hubby said even it is being given away, I aint having it  :banghead:

I had a black XR2i - I wanted to hate it, I really don't like Fords, but I was picking it up for a car dealer friend, switched on the radio and there was a Human League tape in it; it was obscenely cheap, so I bought it for myself instead and really quite enjoyed it in the same way as I enjoyed Capris.

Ford's image was awful then, but it's cars like like that which contribute to the Focus etc. being taken seriously now!

Not an amazing list but here goes:

1980 VW Polo L - brilliant little motor, and in silver looked quite tasty with the black grill and trim. Someone crashed into the back of it and damaged the rear quarter. Too expensive to repair according to insurer, so took the money, bought it off them and got it repaired professionally for a fraction. Drove it for another 2 yrs and sold it on to a mate who then gave it to his mum.

1986 Series 1 RS Turbo Custom - mum's car, but insured to drive which was a result. Loved it. Immaculate, great recaro's, went pretty well too. Always wanted to wheelspin in the wet. Stolen from a hospital car park when visiting - not pleasant. Worth a stack of cash now!!

1973 Triumph Spitfire - red. Top car. Every journey was an adventure because you didn't know if you'd make it to your destination! Saying that was dead reliable. Bodywork not so great tho, especially on the floors.

Then nothing for years due to being a student, then living in London so had a bike.

VW Golf GTI (Mk3) - often slated as heavy and slow (which it is), but I thought it was great. Reliable, comfortable but not a performance car. Had done 190,000 when i gave it away, still in good condition, and on the original clutch.

VW Golf GTI (MK1 16v) - lives in the garage waiting for the day it will get restored. Always wanted a mk1, and although this one ain't the best it'll give me chance to gain skills which was the intention. Whatever it takes, it'll get rebuilt. Not long now…….:)

VW Golf GTI (Mk2) - 8 valve in schwartz black. After a dodgy start to the relationship with engine probs, has turned out to be great fun and reliable (bit of a theme here) and up until recently (student again, so on SORN for a bit) has been used everyday. Tinkered a bit here and there and some suspension and engine mods (2L) lined up.

VW Golf V6 4Motion 5dr - when child number one arrived, it was time for the 3dr Mk3 to go. Looked around, nothing from other manufacturers took my fancy. Drove it, liked it, bought it. Metallic Black, black leather heated recaros, factory satnav, winter pack bla bla bla. Lot of car for the money. Silky engine, reassuring in all weather, but not set up for spirited driving, more for comfort I guess.

That's me so far  :)

Always loved VWs, Dads had loads of older aircooled stuff before i came along(including an early splitty back in the 70's when he lived in cornwall) when i was born mum and dad had a 1985 vw polo coupe sport in eye searing yellow, always wanted that car when i passed my test, and i did for, a week then the gearbox went;
1985 vw polo mk2 1.3 coupe sport(traded in)
1994 vw golf mk3 1.4(written off by a taxi)
1987 datsun  :x sunny 1.3 (written off by a honda jazz)
1996 vw polo mk4 1.slow(written off a boulder in scotland, see a trend developing?)
1983 vw golf mk1 c 1.1 (loved, then stripped for ill fated restoration, and then sold)
1995 audi a4 1.8 20v(just been replaced, now being broken for parts)
1983 vw golf mk1 gx 1.5(replaced the engine, sold it, then it was written off 2 weeks later by the new owner…)
1981 vw golf mk1 gti 1.6(see my sig)
1991 vw corrado 16v(replacement for the audi, sooooooooooooooo much more fun!)

mostly vw's, the datsun was cheap as chips, and in fairness built like a soviet tank(thats certainly how it felt to drive!) i've loved my mk1's, but know i finally own 2 of my dream cars, the 'rado and a mk1 gti.
