Once it's done you'll have to take it up the Troodos mountain roads to the market at the top   A lovely drive apart from I did it in a hired Vitara   Or Protaras to Paphos and back   Did that in a hired Megane cab     Amazing view when you get to the part where the motorway drops towards Paphos

hi everyone,
actually, when i started to my project, i decided to make it 1.8 or 2.0 16v, but now i have new idea: 1.8t as you see.
i find that mk4 gti as a donor which has only 40.000 miles. :D

i need comments about this conversation, who have any experience or knowledges.

cheers

You can use the gearbox but will need to change the output shafts for some 100mm ones from an early diesel mk4 or som of the seats had them with the o2j box.  You'll need to make new rear and left side mounts along with the new mount for the right side.  Stick with the mk1 hubs and go for some biggger brakes as the original mk1 brakes are no way up to the job of a 1.8t.  You need some 100mm mk1 driveshafts off a late cabrio.  Cable shift is easy to sort the hydraulic pedal is a bit of a pain but not too bad if you're proficient with a welder and simple fabrication work.
