Well i built the conversion downpipe and adapted the existing system to fit today and it fits spot on no rattles, exhaust note is awesome so a very pleasing few hours :D

Pics of the downpipe:

lugs cut off the old flange and pipes cut too. Over sized pipes welded to the bottom of the flange at an angle to suit the existing system…

Because i moved the whole system backwards to fit the flange, i had to take a bit of length out of the centre section, fairly easy to do with a piece of over sized tubing to slot over the front pipe :)

some photos of the ibiza and the gold whilst jump starting :D

and a video more for the sound than anything :)

while this has just been bumped... ill add thats its just passed an MOT :D very pleased tbh... failed initially on a perished fuel cap rubber, no brake lights and no horn... horn had seized and id forgotten to wire it up anyway... brake light switch i snapped a terminal off each one so thats why that didnt work, and i already had a new filler cap at home so that was easy enough... a new horn and brake switch later and shes all road legal again :D :D :D happy times

Thats Sick as my 8 year old Lad says.
Love the modified exhaust much better that blowing 300 on a manifold.

I'll keep watching…

Today is a good day to die, but tomorrow would be more convenient

Also any reason why you are using the R1 pump and not the zx9r one??

Very nice work there mate… and in reality seeing your fab piccies has spurred me on to do a similar mod in my Rocco engine conversion.

Coupla questions if I may…

1. Fuel return?  You using a swirl pot or the like as it doesn't appear to or did you just get rid of fuel return?
2. Did your carbs have a funny little connector on the side (leccy), if so what on earth is it for?

Cheers,
Rich

fuel return is simply bocked mate, the carbs regulate the sure at 3psi via the bike pump and so dont need a return line…

and yes the carbs do have an electrical connector on the side…
- the connector is no use to the conversion… but on a bike presumably itd be a throttle position sensor ;)

Good luck with the conversion

Sweet…

Thanks for that matey, sure does helps clarify a lot of things.

Now to get my manifold made… (the joys of not having a cross flow head, lol)
We shall win though :D

hi there, quik qestion bout this throttle position sensor, as u wer using the mk2 16v ecu that wd have wirein for a throttle position sensor init, how did u wire that part up or did u jus leave it out alltogether an jus wire in the usualstuff like hall sender , coil etc. if so does it run ok without it as im guna be usin a mk2 16 v ecu an loom i have but run mine in webewr carbs so wasnt sure if the tps would have to be wired into it somehow?
cheers

You don't need it wired up… although I'm gonna run my Dizzied carb on MegaJolt, so will end up using the throttle sensor I reckon :D

doesnt need to be wired up… the ecu uses a second map for closed throttle but doesnt really make an difference when using the carbs…
idles perfectly once its warmed, ut then what else would you expect with carbs :)

wicked, cheers man. wont be wireing that in, was wirein the 16v ecu in hard or did it all go in pretty easy?guess its jus a case of puttin differnt connectors, lengthenin andsplicin into the mk1 loom?

theres no splicing or cutting at all matey…
the 16v ecu runs the engine… and has absolutely nothing to do with any other part of the car ;)

Good job bye the way.  I have a few questions for you.

What have you done with crankcase breather? Have you fitted a filter to it?If so where did you get it?

You have a R1 fuel pump, how have you connected it up? Have you used an R1 fuel pump relay or have you done something else?

Thanks and keep up the good work.

heya mate i got same sort of thing what do you do with all the injection wiring andwhat did you do with the airmass sensor? do you need it?
cheers for any help.:)

Cheers…
the crank case breather has a pipe attached to it to direct a mini filter on the end upwards… this stops the oil in the crank from coming out of the filter itself and just the gasses come out :)
Think i bought it from ebay or halfords??

Fuel pump can be wired to ign live, or to the existing fuel pump wiring… either works… i imagine the r1 relay would do the same job as a normal relay so i just did that…

you dont need injection wiring if its on carbs? I just removed it all back through the bulk head… I did cable tie it all up there unless i could remove complete wires by a plug or spade terminal for neatness.
I left what would have required to be chopped incase anyone in the future decided to do otherwise.
And no you dont need the airmass sensor.
Carbs are the simplest thing in the world theyve nothing complicated wiring wise to them
