couldnt get to the garage as had a bit of a major accident on saturday. had a head on collision with a 45 ton truck, got knocked unconscious. luckily walked out of the hospital a few hours later though with just cuts n bruises. so i decided to give this weekend a miss.

just about to order the dubpower conversion manifold n flexi

left to do is.

fuel pump and accumulator
get copper fuel lines as ive changed my mind about the rubber ones
fit inlet manifold/metering head/airbox
wiring
find an alternator and bracket
fit rad
fit conversion manifold/ exhaust

think thats it for now. just have to wait see if anything goes wrong and have do owt else.

finally managed to get back to garage today after manifold came so got that cracked on straight away. just need to fab the straight through center section now to make it fit for the manifold and then get all that back on.

also got got this done when i 1st bought the car coz it had a horrible jap can on it, just never got round to taking a pic of it.
custom made from my own specs ;)

also bought the whole kjet system off panda this morning n cracked that on straight away, proper starting to come together now  just need to get an isv module and the banjo connectors bonded to the lines. also found a wur in the box of goodies erny gave me!

old loom came out too, started getting the new one in but looks like it needs a bit of modding so it can reach everything after erny had a look today so gunna make sure it runs then get one made up. so it fits a bit better.

heres how the bays looking right now.

also started to strip the car out a bit and got the cage in. just needs bolting down now. but i need to find the bolts and fixing plates that came with it as i couldnt find them :/

also got the new fuel lines this morning too. got the copper-nickel ones from unipart cheers for the help on that. so i replaced the rubber lines i previously put in, forgot to get a pic of that.

een at the garage again today. unfortunately no pics as my phone was dead. but sold a couple a couple of things i no longer needed after getting that kjet stuff off panda. before i did that though i swapped the 42mm inlet manifold that i got and put a 50mm one on. changed the plastic power rohr for a stainless one that i got off erny yesterday, got the injectors in, and plumbed the brakes in and the brake light switch, just need to get that res off jay now and bleed the brakes then brakes are all done.

still needing to get the fuel lines bonded to the connectors for the metering head though and connect the fuel pump, and refit the exhaust.  then its just wiring that needs finishing, and the isv controller when that comes sometime this week.

shouldnt be too long now getting pretty excited bout this now as its all falling into place. ill get pics up of todays progress when im back at the garage at the weekend.

not a realy good update really but as ive not had money to buy the final bits that need doing, or a jack so i could get underneath, but though id take a photo as i didnt have one with the rad in n power rohr i got off erny.

got the clips for the clutch cable as i couldnt find em anywhere so got them from gilders the other day, so thats fitted now. it still needs adjusting but i wouldnt know whether itd be done right if i do it.

having a bit of a struggle getting the throttle cable to stay attached to the pedal too at the minute as i cant get the plastic grommet to stay in the bulkhead so the hook falls out the ring on the pedal.

i know the rads not secured as i only got the brackets this morning a nice little set of polished brackets, were only a few quid off ebay,

still got a few niggly bits that need doing come pay day that i dont know how to do so ill need help then too which is why its going so slow at the minute.  :/

hopefully, not gonna set any speed records, but r6 carbs, ashley 4 branch, jetex exhaust and K&N bolt on…70bhp? hopefully then maybe a port and polish.

no idea on what power youd be putting out tbh haha.

just be diferent to see a mk1 keeping a small block and putting bike carbs on.

very small update. its been VERY slow and VERY steady progress, but its progress nonetheless.

finally managed to get down to the hydralics center and get the banjos for the fuel lines to go on to the metering head. so theyre on now.

after months of trying to find someone braking a mk2 that was willing to send me the brake fluid res on its own i managed to get that.

the list is of whats needed is getting shorter ever so slightly now lol

whats left:

fuel accumulator bracket
pump to accumulator hose (then can mount pump and accumulator)
wiring needs doing
brakes need bleeding
rad needs hoses connecting (not sure if ive got the right hoses and even if i did im not 100% which one goes where)
need to make my current exhaust fit the ashley manfold. (need to buy a 3 bolt flange reducer to weld to current center section)
need my gear linkage setting up (again i dont know how to do this)
still struggling to get the throttle cable set up right as it just keep falling out of the bulkhead and becoming unhooked from the accelerator. its the mk2 gti one ive got as thats what i was told id need but it just doesnt seem to fit right. any idea?

this list seems bigger than i remember haha

still not managed to get this thing finished yet. :(

not knowing what your doing realy has its drawbacks.

i dont know how to do anything now that needs doing now to finish it. anyone live local to rotherham that knows how to do the above and wouldnt mind lending a fellow mk1 fan a hand?

the cars insured now as i expected it to be running by the time my previous insurance ended so im paying insurance to sit in a garage which is annoying to say the least at just over a £100 a month.
