I found them a bit expensive for my Clipper cabriolet, but Direct Line - usually cheap for "mainstream" cars - shocked me.

My 500 SL - Group 20A, 330bhp, cost ?77K new (in 1992 ) - ?470.
Clipper - ?434.

This is the same firm that only charged ?200 fully comp for my Japanese Toyota Sera. Clearly someone at Direct Line hates Golf Cabriolets.

My 94 VR6 Passat and mk1 golf both cost ?400 to insure with all mods declared and unlimited mileage

swapped the VR6 to a 94 1.9 Diesel and it went up by ?20!!!
