my 1983 tin top gti metal work started

not really just in the normal places rear arches ,rear panel, frount panel,front wings,sun roof apart from them its good o and the sills have been crushed  :roll: but its never been touched before so i dont think its in to bad nick really cause everything else is spot on

hi mate, good work, ive gotta do my rear valance soon as mines just as rotton if not more,ill take it off the same way you did though looks a lot better and safer so thanks for that as i was a bit scared about doin it ha ha!! ill def keep an eye on this one,nice project,keep up the good work :wink:

it makes it easyer doing it that way i think at least you can see what your cutting  :lol:

slight change of plan on the rear got myself a complete rear panel as top has a few holes rusted away and no fixings for the number plate lights will get that on soon

also got some rear arches so they will be going on at same time

just front panel to get now  :lol:

well managed to get the workshop sorted today which was good so can do a bit more . want to strip interior out tomo so i dont set fire to anything welding :lol:

well its been a while and ive made a bit of progress but will let pics do the talking













and thats where i am at the minute just starting to strip the underseal off  :lol:

hello peeps well got half way with stripping the under seal off and got board so i decided to crack out the welder and make a start this is how i got on

i made a start on the turret this is how it started









the one on the left is the old part and the other was the bit i made

 



got a bit lost in the moment and forgot to take any pics of the outer part but here it is finished





just stuck a coat of primer on it to stop the tinworm

quite impressed with how it turned out as this is the first time i ever done anything like this

well heres how ive been getting on

so i started on rear axel mount and this is how i got on























well thats how i got on with the axel mount

so after that i made a start on the rear inner and outer arches


































and thats how i got on couldnt finish welding it on as me welder ran out of gas

( sorry about the c**p quality of pics took them on my phone)
