So tonight I pulled the engine out. The drive shafts were a nightmare to get out they just didn't want to play

The master cylinders for the pedal box finally turned up today. They are very compact so hopefully they won't foul the dash.

Good work chore !
If you fancy straying away from a VW powerplant in the engine room, Davy has a few good Ford engines in his yard, a rebuilt Cossy YB, a BDT from an RS1700T and my old 24v Cossy lump out of that daft Sierra

I think if i put a YB engine in, it would twist the car in half . No i am staying with VW for this one. Might get myself a Mk1 Escort once i have finished this and got my bank balance back up. I think i am going to need a big garage .

Cheers mate. I have a clear vision of what I want the car to be like so I can really crack on with it.
I got the tank and the running gear done by a local guy in Darlington. He just has a small unit but does a really good job. You have to be carefull doing tanks tho as the shot blasting can punch holes in it if it's rusty.

The other night I pulled the front running gear off to be sent away for shot blasting and powder coating. I have new wishbones, new hubs, new tie rods and ends.

I want to put a pedal box in my caddy. Something i have always wondered is how they perform compared to the stand servo setup. Do you have to use more force/effort on the pedal. I always though a servo was to assist the driver to make braking easier.
Please shed some light on this for me.
Thanks

I have not got mine fitted up yet so carn't be 100%. I imagine it will be harder but not as much as most people think. There is alot of setting up to do. Firstly you use different size master cylinders front and back so more pressure goes to the front. Then you have to set the balance bar up so the front master cylinder has more travel in it than the rear. Its probably best if you check wilwoods website out, they have a good technical section witch has drawings of all this.

Affraid not mate. I whipped the steering rack off last night but didn't get any pics. I stripped it down and it's in a sorry state so think a new one is in order. Think they are about 68 quid.
I am going to get some engine degreaser at the weekend because the bay is minging, then I am starting chopping and smooting next week.

looking good mate. im also considering ditching the servo and going for a setup like yours. how do you know if youve got the right size master cylinders?

Haha good question.
I will know if they are right when I start driving it. I will see if the rear locks up before the front and tries to overtake me .
This is a set up that was reccomended to me by the bloke who made the pedal box. They should be fine as the pedal box has a bias bar so you can adjust the amount of braking force between the front and rear.
