Lukes Lhasa Green '83 GX

Bought it a few weeks only now got round to taking some piccies. As you can see i have started filling and priming bad patches that need sorting have lots of new bits in car waiting to go on as soon as i got paintwork sorted

Can anyone tell me what these wheels came from they are genuine speedlines and was told by someone they are standard renault 5 turbo's but i have never seen these on R5's before

looks a bit like mine. i love these 5 drs for some strange reason. whats it like inside? and what you doing with that roof rack?

The wheels are from a Renault 19 16v  :wink:

Generally inside is very good apart from drivers seat has a small rip in bolster. (looking for a new one if anyone has a GX drivers seat in very good condition with no holes  :wink: )

Roof rack is staying gona refurbish it (strip and repaint) and then got some oak to make into slats for it.

Wheels im not keen on so will be for sale in the future when i finished pushing car around on.

Generally very solid for rust, a few dents and surface rust which im sanding back and treating as we type.

my fingers are hurting from lack of skin from sanding at the moment haha.

an update as i havent done so for a couple weeks

Top of front panel had a fair few small stone chips with a couple showing signs of rust so i obviously sanded back, treated and primered as seen below

Also had problems with the rear hatch leaking water. When i removed the rear screen there was more rust than i anticipated with a couple small holes (obviously where the water was getting in)



As you can also see in the pictures the lip that the seal sits on was also very rusty and basically fell off when touched.





This resulted in me having to purchase a brand new tailgate  

a couple dents with i have sanded back, treated, filled and primered not very exciting i know but thought i would add it in  

Cant decide what grill i prefer the original chrome quad or the twin debadged.

What do you lot think?






Purchased some gti tarantula wheels for a very good price from another mk1 owner on the site. Which i have put on the car and have raised the coilovers up as the previous owner wound down as low as he could






Have started with gettin rid of the red painted engine parts and have done it with a chrome paint not as good as real chrome but only cost me ?5 to paint lol.

How much for the reno wheels? Im only in Sudbury so can collect....

im going to clean wheels and give them a freshen up before i sell them as they look untidy at the moment with paint peeling as previous owner done a bodge job.

So sorry not for sale as yet.

next little job is cleaning inner arches and re-undersealing them. Was very surprised myself how good the inner arches are (they are still the originals never been welded up) have not found any rust. At last something good about the car

Sanding back and treating some more of the rusty stonechips on the front valance back to bare metal.

Quite pleased with the shine considering the first time i have ever sprayed a panel and was only done from a halfords can aswel.

Checkering finished. As you can see the grill part of the bonnet i chickened out on. I found it hard enough trying to get it to stick properly around the swage line so didn't even attempt grill

i am really startin to like these 5dr models
