Engine restoration and chassis

gaz_mk1 said

you have a right job mate i love birds of pray

Thanks.
I have tried to keep just the engine red. It looks very bright in the photograph but it's not like that for real.
I have tried to keep it too Silver, Black and blue (apart from engine)

The Bird of Prey is a RED TAIL (how ironic  ), quite wide spread in the US but not here.

Fantastic Bird

Time to connect the manifold. I had changed the 4 part for a standard MK2 one.
But after all that work and reaching the finishing line i found the MK2 exhaust did not fit the mark 1. I checked on here with the wizards and my nightmare was confirmed.
The gear linkage was in the way and the Anti roll was just far too tight. The shape was wrong and it went nowhere near the hanger and would never connect into the aftermarket centre , so their was dissapointment again but the 4 part i had taken off the MK1 engine i knew would but again it was strip down time.
I think i can now strip down a GTI engine in my sleep

The picture shows the problem

Here is ALMOST the finished article. There are some tweeks to be made and a few touching up but in general it's 90% done.

I hope you like it. Not everyone's 'cup of tea' i know but i like it :D

Now for my weakest strength of all…The outside paint job which i will ask in the forum elsewhere :dontknow:
