coil overs or standard shocks, wots the difference?

Im scouting for some wheels at the moment i have found a few sets that look nice but dont no if they'd suit the car or not so i thought some idea's from fellow club members may help with the dicision.

any idea's welcome in "14 & "15, would like to hear your thoughts or ideas, i'v fixed an img on so you can see the car they'l be going on, if you can add a pic of the wheels you have in mind that would be really helpfull as im useless with names of designes in the field of wheels ….

hav fun and decorate away ……… who knows i may even let the winner of the design i decide on come round and lick my rims!! :D

not really thought about the cost yet suppose really between ?400-?600 as a bench mark but can stretch to more as an idea but the important thing is to find some that go really well and then way up the cost then to how they look, if they look good thier worth the dollar! :)

If you can afford to go low enough to make them sit properly in the arches, I may know of a set of ATS Classics going - excellent condition with Continental rubber on them.

Give me a shout if you're interested :)

Cups for me, but the main issue I see is the ride height.

With cups lowered:

Those rims I got look sweet but the work involved to get them right for the golf and the cost of a refurb would have rendered them useless if you had paid around ?250 for them, hence why I ended up buying the car.

i think theres a few Keskin KT1 KT3 wheels, Schmidt modern line 1 piece 15inch Borbets with black centres, Lenso BSX (bbs copys), Rota yes japanese but cup and flashback (i think thats what there called) look ok with black centres, P-slots, all should come in budget  Depends what look your affter like i said theres loads really you could look at old original wheels and transform them change colour, polish them

It dunt fit

Watanabe RS

SSR Mesh

Work Equip 03

Or any of the wheels here. There are sooo many more designs of wheels out there that look better than ATS cups/classics or BBS splits or anything made by Lenso. (I'm not trying to criticise those of you who have those wheels, just my opinion).

If you aren't confused enough after seeing all of the choices in the link above, try here and here.

I think the original Works wheels will be split rims and probably quite expensive. There are copies available made by a company called Rota, and they come with a black or gold centre, more info here.
