wow, a long time since the last update,

i have a massive dent in the drivers side sill at the front near the wing, it was so bad the sill was rubbing on the door when you closed it….. The paint had cracked and it had to surface rust, Oh and where the jack had cause the middle of the dent it had pierced it….

So i have no before pics , but the process was….

Drill a couple of small holes in the inner sill so i could get access with a rod to the inside of the dent, and "fettled" ie. Smashed the dent out as goof as poss, this left a bit of metal beyond repair so a small patch (3in x 2in) was cut out, and a replacement section was butt welded in.

All ground back with a flap wheel

Then filler was applied, sanded back with 40 grit, then 80, then 120.

Then a skim of putty, sanded with 240

Etch primed any bare metal

Primed the lot (upto the remaining paint)

Applied 3m stone chip (Awesome stuff and really thick)

Painted with 4 coats of mars red…

Im really happy with the result, i was nervous about this to be honest as it was so badly damaged to begine with , but it turned out well….

Oh yea, Inside the sill it was coated with waxoyl to prevent water penetration from inside the repair….

heres the pics…

Just trying on some bbs ra's……….

Haha.

the bottom of the wing doesnt line up because i packed it out for now with a bit of silicone hose as i knacked the little clip that the wing bolt screw into,

any idea where i can get these from?

also note the blue bonnet, i have stripped the red one to metal and its gonna be painted next weekend hopefully, im not sure if i have enough paint left though….

Also, can you spot the interior? Its not finished yet so dont was to put up proper pics..

right guys an update not so much on progress , well i suppose it is progress….

the best bit of any project, the ENGINE

So i made a trip up to york this weekend in horrific weather, ended up gragging a guy off the A1 M in his focus (he flipped it at 70 mph) he had landed sideways in the slow lane, so 4 of us tried to push it off and it was hard work as the rear wheels were shot!

Anyway.

I had to put this shot in…..

And inside………………….

TaDaaaaa!

A '98 AHU TDI 90Bhp….

With FSH and running perfectly… mmmmm

And here i am driving the other half mad with a full vento wiring loom on the floor in the living room!

and a picture of a strange acorn on the exhaust manifold…..

Oh no, its just a very small turbo haha!!!

I have ordered some engine mounts from the caddy forum, as i cant spend a month making mounts, and i know they will fit perfect….

Cant wait to be getting 60mpg !!!

Cheers, Scott

yea jelly, not sold it mate,

you want it ? haha.

allan , ive honestly considered every possible engine,

16VT, 20VT, G60, VR6 blah blah, PD TDI,

This has the best of all worlds, and relatively cheap even doing it properly.

Spent 300 pound at GSF and VW today on just service bits,

cambelt, waterpump, sump seal, rocker seal, oil, filters, coolant, all of the engine mount rubbers, mechanical clutch conversion from VW (seat unit) and some other stuff

 :banghead:

money money money  :banghead:

cheeers, Scott

Does anyone know what happens with the drivers side engine mount?

as it was a 1.1c before, does the mount on the chassis leg have to be moved and flipped over???

It looks too far forward. If it does, this is a set back  :banghead:
