The serious point behind the little bit of fun, is that there is a recurrence of common themes and common questions coming up. I don't mind typing the same thing again (after all, if I didn't want to, I could just ignore it!) but doing this does somewhat shamelessly bump up my post count. But if I can't quite remember something then instead of me doing a search and then copying and pasting the results, I'd encourage newcomers themselves, to take full advantage of the search engine. The one on here has a little tweak so that it searches for ALL terms by default (which seems to give better results).

The point being, that a range of posts produced by the search engine, over time, will deliver a richer and broader amount of information than the current regular poster's tech input. So its doing the question poser a favour, by educating them into using the search engine. Basically, don't shoot down the guy suggesting to do a search, they're trying to help you now and in the future!
