Jimmy's Canyon Red 5dr '80 Series 1 GLS!
I've been running around in her as is, and did a wicked trip to Dorset last week covered well over 200 miles and she didn't skip a beat, not bad considering she'd done less than 20 last year. Plan is to tidy her up, new wheels (picking up some castellets tomorrow thanks to Kane ) subtle drop (maybe not coilovers but don't know what a good alternative would be?) and when MOT time comes around maybe a little bodywork - wings and valence need doing as do the rear arches in time - the rest is remarkably good, sills, wheel well, inner wings all look pretty solid, sure there's some rot lurking. There are also numerous little dings chips and scrapes, so a full respray will probably be on the cards next year.
Little bits of interior trim need doing (brown, hooray!), speedo needs a trip odometer (was changed for one without, 5 years ago) and the front seats are a little baggy but otherwise she's solid, original and my pride and joy!
Now the sob story, I got made redundant yesterday so You'll probably find me here quite a lot when I should be filling in application forms! More seriously, I came home tonight to find some cnut has pulled the side section of the plastic front bumper right forward and bent it, cracking the chrome trim. Luckily nothing else is damaged and it wasn't in the best of condition, but it makes me fecking angry someone would do that for no reason, I might have to get a garage to keep vermin like that away.
Anyway, hope you enjoy the pics and cheers for all the help and advice you've given so far, I'll be asking for lots more for sure!
Cheers

Cheers Ross, very impressed by your MK1, amazing amount of work gone into it.
I'm originally from the Borders, the other end of Scotland, nice to know there's some MK1's bombing aabout up there.

No worries. I'm not a computer whizz or anything, just fiddled and about and used the post 'preview' button to see what happened after each try! Sorry to hear you've lost your job. Hope something comes up soon. It's a great Mk1, very retro and original! Fingers crossed no more silly sods touch it.
I tried a few variations but it beat me! Cheers, would like to have caught them at it, as long as they weren't too big!
I guess everyone is feeling the pinch, some much worse than me so can't complain. Something else will come along I'm sure.

I'm glad you had a trouble free journey to Dorset. She needed a good run.
It's nice to hear your sticking to your original plan's for it.
The gaffer or duct tape was a requirement to pass the MOT which i believe they did.

Some twunt thought it would be fun to try and rip my bumper off
To cheer myself up I took a trip up to see Kane and have his old wheels off him.
Quit a different wheel but bolted on no problem, after I'd worked out the jacking points ops:
Starting to take shape
Before and afters
What do you think? I'm pretty happy with the results, thanks again to Kane, top bloke, and an amazing project, can't wait to see it finished.
Next for this one, roof rack and lowering…stay tuned.
Anyone fancy a set of solid steels with excellent tyres all round? Wrong time of year to be sellend a set of winters, these will clean up real nice though! Offers welcome, inc swaps

Someone's had a go at the wing mirrors though, and smashed one
Think I know who it is but can't do anything about it or it'll just get worse.
