That is brilliant. I'm glad the tailgate worked out for you. I'm free next weekend so if you fancy any help with her then let me know. Also any chance you know how to wire in central locking i have no voltmeter so is not an easy job. Would love some help!!!!!!!!

its all right mate, i knew you mean't next weekend, should have made clearer in my reply, sorry. never fitted coilies before, but i gather its no different to fitting normal suspension. I'll help as best i can. i thought your mk1 was off the road? Your still welcome to pop down mate, just give me a bell so i know your on the way.

Mini update - Tailgate back on!, inner wings and sunroof surround in primer, tried refitting sunroof, but both seals are perished. also fitting sunroof was a nightmare!!!, pics soon.

Golf is back on the road now and all fixed up. New fuel lines in and sorted out. Would be awesome if you don't mind helping?

Not updated for a bit, here's what i've been up to;
Hubs stripped for cleaning and new bearings,
Front suspension off and heading for the bin! ,
wishbones to be replaced,
driveshafts to be replaced,
front panel painted mars red(woo hoo! :mrgreen: )
engine bay in primer
car looks like this at present:
can't wait to get some wheels back on it! :twisted:

Ok, so still not taken any pics since last update, but engine bay now all painted, vin plate, bonnet prop and a paint code tag(?) now re-attached, started putting the engine back together, finished cleaning everything up so just need to put it all back tigether, new timing belt and tensioner on. hopefully a matter of days before the old girl is fired up for the first since i got her! fingers crossed, touch wood and all that,

Quick update, refitted everything in the engine bay, got a battery and got really excited it might actally fire, a few final checks, and upon turning the key… the loom almost set fire to itself! Gutted!, so sod it, the engines coming ot now and getting rebuilt, as is the loom, everything else is off the car anyway now.

I'm officially locking meself away in my garage til its done

Cheers mate, aiming to get it back on the road for its 30th birthday(about 2 years away) so, i should have plenty of time...

Well, i'dlove to post up that i've done loads to the golf, but i've not touched it for months(i've even thought about selling it once or twice), however, over new years, i had epiphany( it may have been to much southern comfort?) i'm going to pull my finger out, get the welding done, the new wiring loom in etc.

I'd love to get her back on the road for 2010 at some point, but its more likley to be 2011(hopefully in time for some summer shows and drives!), 2010 going to be a busy year for me to! I'm aiming to have her running under her own power and watertight by the end of this year.

So my one and only new years resolution is pull my finger and get on with it! Beats quitting! :wink:
