Had a great mooch around the car park - saw loads of caddys this year !!

Still an aircooled event but great fun to get out for the first show of the year.

Enjoyed blowing the tubes out of the tin top :-)

Here are some from the day:

Ooh it's my car!! Wish I'd have given Arnie a bit of a wash first now!! I only went along to try and get a few bits for my beetle and have a look at all the beetles in the show and the car park. Was not expecting such a large mk1 coningent, nor so many watercooleds in the show and shine. Tbh, the quality of mk1s in the car park far surpassed the quality of beetles, which were by and large pretty shabby! And don't get me started on the cars for sale. You know the silly season, I mean show season, has started when people are asking ?4000 for cars that are clearly rotten as a peach under a glossy paint job. Quite remarkable really I hope no one was fooled into parting with these outrageous sums 'cos I should think they'll come to regret it pretty soon.
Still, had a good day out, and bumped into Warren (Gammygolfgti) and a couple of the guys off here which was a pleasant surprise. Nice to see so many mk1s in a day, especially when I wasn't expecting it. I actually bought my mk1 at Dubfreeze last year which must mean i've had it exactly a year now. It's a better car in a number of respects than when I bought it but I don't think any experience I've had driving it can beat that first drive home in it last year where i literally grinned the whole way back! My beetle is my 1st love but boy do I love my mk1 too!

Hi Guys thanks for the nice comments.

36th, I have been toying with the idea of painting it black to hide it a bit, but then I think no leave it as it looks mean !!

Andy, yea the G60 is running really well, still puts a smile on my face every time I drive it - glad of some decent dry weather, the G60 loves the cooler air !!

I have been collecting all the bits over the last 4 years for a 16V G60 conversion - I have them all now bar a few gaskets :-)
I am going to entrust Jody at Midland VW with the build up (he did the G60 Conversion) simply because I do not have enough hours in the day and I know it would take me ages to get it done. Once Jody has finished his workshop re-org it will be going in - hopefully all complete for the MK1 OC meet and GTI International for a little sprinting :-)

Should be fun.

Cheers,
Ade

You better get a built thread up on that 16V G50 too, sounds like a good progets, I've seen a couple in the last year, I'm sure one was BBM tunes and pushing stupid BHP too!

Also there's this video on the Dubfreeze homepage, which for some reason they show every car in the display area apart from Danos (unless I missed it, at work can't watch it twice haha!)

I got a look in on as the background to the Type 3 Fastback with graffiti at 4 minutes !!!!

I never realised that the Audi 80 variant was water cooled, I was scratching my head when they said that the Audi had 1st place W/C standard. I'd only seen the Audi rally car and that was hardly standard!!

You learn something everyday

I really enjoyed catching up with everyone again. Gammy, the picture will be on my wall soon!!!!
