Inter Region Karting

whatalotafun said

sooooooooooooo,

am i right in thinking that each region will have there own teams and will copete agains't eachother.
yes I think this is the general idea but i recon team tactics will go out the window and everyone will be out to win for themselves and become supreme Karting champion of the mk1 world.

Dont ask what your club can do for you, but what can you do for your club?

I've been spoken to ' SpeedKarting ' in Warrington. It?s the largest indoor track in the country and it?s all UNDERCOVER so we wouldn't be affected by the weather unlike some tracks in the area.

The top package is called Gold Card Exclusive Grand Prix. For you you?d get the following?

- arrival, sign in and suit fitting
- tea, coffee and biscuits on arrival
- drivers briefing
- tea and coffee throughout the event
- 5 mins practice laps per person
- flag briefing
- 6 races per person (works out at 3.5 laps of a 1000mtr track = 3.5 to 4 minutes racing per race or less ? depending on how quickly you drive!)
- BBQ1 served on an 'eat as much as you like' basis during racing
- one Grand Prix final for top 7/8 drivers who have accumulated the most points during racing
- large engraved 'gold' cup trophy for 1st, 2nd & 3rd
- Moet & Chandon for 1st, 2nd & 3rd
- handmade laurels with company coloured ribbons for 1st, 2nd & 3rd
- departure
A Gold Card event for up to 30 drivers would be ?1950 inc. vat.
A Gold Card event for up to 40 drivers would be ?2600 inc. Vat.
The price would then work out to ?65 per drive assuming that 30 of us wanted to race.
(?65 still for 40 drivers)
(Don?t forget, the ?eat as much as you like? BBQ is included!!!)

So, does that sound a reasonable amount to pay for an afternoon?s entertainment including food and drinks?

At present Easter Weekend on the Sunday is totally clear.

The company can fit us in practically anytime we would wish, whether that be a morning, afternoon or even late evening but we need to decide what time we would like.

I have suggested the idea with THIS company primarily because the track is the LARGEST in Britain and can cater for our needs. (and before you think 'Oh, and its near him' - I'll have to travel as well   ).

did they give you price for how much it is for those not driving?

the location of this is on the back of a industrial estate and a rail yard so pics should be good. and different from the usual park and trees thing we usually get. anyone fancy a raid on ninemeister to as thats just round the corner. pics of golfs lined up outside a porsche specialist must be ironic in some way.

If the 12th April clashes with another VW event how about a week later?

Saturday 17th or Sunday 18th April 2009.

I see that there is an event on the Saturday in Essex but apart from that it seems clear.  :dontknow:

Count me in Dano, I'll use me annual leave if I have to  :)
Went there last year on works do (little track tho') but the main track looks the mutts nuts with plenty of room for overtaking.

I no longer have the Mk1!! I now whizz round in a Black 1990 3dr Mk2 GTi 8v but the roof doesn't fold back when the sun shines :o
