newbie from the states

Hey all.  I've been lurking here for quite some time and finally decided to post up some info about myself.

I live in Pennsylvania and have been putzing around with MK1s since the mid 80s..

At the moment I have a 79 golf and an 88 cabriolet

I've totally restored the 79.  My attempt to make a 76 GTI but a little extra.    kinda keep it stock looking,  but with a big motor and some bling undercover.

Every bit of work on the car was done by me.  except mounting the tires..  that was my goal.

the car was featured in PVW in September.  the "do you want fries with that"

79 Diesel converted to a 2.0 16v on webers.

Thanks all.

Thanks.

I forgot to post the video teaser.   We did hours of video footage of the car.

here is the High Def version of that teaser

That was a lot of fun.   By the end of the day my pressure plate was about to fly apart.   I have since tripple stacked my pressure plate straps.

We had a MK1 only show here Last spring.  the video just came out:  Lots of beer and rain.   but it was a lot of fun.   my car is in the vid a couple times and at the very end.

high def again:

Yes,  Tom ….sorry

Thanks for the compliments.

This winter I have been working on some BBS RMs to help get a little more clearence underneith.   I had the lips, centers and bolts chromed.  I'll just paint the barrels silver to keep them timless.

I'm gonna send out my booster and bracket for chroming also.   It's really hard to get stuff chromed here because of environmental regluations,   but my buddy is dating the chromers daughter.    :)

haha i like it.
I checked out the other videos too, there are alot of famous videos ive seen on youtube.
i dont know if people have ripped them off then posted them as their own or what, but they look good.
Loving audrey lol.

Overhere chroming is pretty easy and common, but other things like parts are more expensive than yours i believe.

toyota corollas are pretty few over here.   It would be worth a mint here thats for sure.   I love the 80s toyota stuff.     Make sure you take lots of pictures during your build.

well,  one thing about doing it yourself is,  it's much cheaper.    the project took about a year.

One thing that was nice.   My garage is under my house,  so it's heated and cooled.   and I can go down and work for 5 minutes at a time if needed.    I have 2 kids so I can't devote too much time except after bed time for them.  The fumes from paint and oil get me in trouble :)   I just painted a set of BBS RMs for it last night……….. still stinks in there.
