wesley's mk1
Been a member here for a while only got this
build thread together last week so here you go
Here's my mk1
I bought it in may 2006
It's 1.8 8v
1983
When i bought it, it needed a good amount of work
( But that's where the fun is & What it's all about )
the brake's were very very bad
the car could hardly move no power
the glove box was broken where it screw's to the dash,
(New dash needed)
no horn (The car  ), very bad light's,No indicator's, Hard to get 5th gear
(The linkage's were worn & broke)
Window wiper's would only work on 1 speed very very very slow,
no rev counter, no dash lights etc
Body wise it was fairly straight,Paint was fair & after that everything else
could be fixed
Theese pic's were taken the morning after i got it,
the car looked a lot better after a good wash it brought the paint
right up got rid of the dirt and grime
It also came with this leather interior (now changed)
I don't like the blue but the seat's are in good condition,
i'll change the blue bit's in time, (there on the to do list)
Rear Strut
The service history show's that
before i got it, it got
Bush's balljoint's & service bit's filter's,shocks etc
also
Radiator 15.12.97
Steer rack 24.01.98
Engine work 10.04.98
Clutch cable 27.07.98
Fuse box 29.08.98
4 Branch manifold down pipe 16.11.98
Expansion tank & cap 08.03.99
Speedocable 13.05.99
New exhaust box's 20.04.05
New front & back bumper 18.05.05
and it passed the nct (National car test) on 30.06.04
This is a picture i took of the car about a year after i got it,
Done to this point is
Full service,
Brake problem sorted out with mk2 16v servo,
G60 master cylinder,
Rear Brake Caliper's & disc's,
Braided brake hose's (goodridge)
scirocco gti hand brake cable's
No power problem sorted
incorrect distributor cap was fitted
changed for new one along
with plug lead's, New rotor and ignition timming done
few small thing's i got at inter's 07
Bonnet lifter's
number plate's, number plate surround's
tinted head light's also this de badged grill
which i hate, (really look's bad on a black car i think)
i should have left the original double headlight grill on it
but you know what it's like, you want to change the
look of a car when you 1st get it

went on a local club end of year car run saturday,
Only about 10 car's in total, mostly went for the reason of
bedding in the coil's
And it's nice to get out for a spin 2
Got home late had to
Get the car out of the shed this evening to give her a wash
Dirty bugger &
Take a few snap's but the weather is very dull for it
Going to let them bed in for a while before
adjusting to get a good stance but it's not to bad there now

Loving looking car, only thing i would change is the rear spoiler as i'm not a fan. But it is your car.
i love the spoiler, although you do have a point - change it for a 3 piece zender!!

the only thing i would do would put the rear wiper in a vice to straighten it a little so it holds flatter with the glass rubber line, and change the blue leather for S1 tartan..
car looks smart still..

Think my next move is going to be a bit with the boot lid
going to get rid of wiper arm, washer jet & lock/button
Don't know if i'll leave the spoiler on or not?

but you have to drill holes for the 3 piece, so nineties too..

I Don't like the zender spoiler
There's another black mk1 near me with 1
I will do something with the interior for sure
Not that easy to get mk1 stuff over here i'm afraid :dontknow:

lovely looking car mate. I love the spoiler too - same as on mine! I think it helps the look nicely.
And you've got the stance just right, not so low it's undriveable but still an aggressive look - nice job :y:
