Don't know if you'd chuck, but it wouldn't be very nice. It worked pretty well for me last time I had a sore throat. Don't know if it cures it but it certainly makes it less irritating.

another old wives cure for sore  throats , put some onions and garlic on a baking tray and let them roast, then spoon up the sticky gu and swallow. i'd imagine it tastes foul but if it works,,,,,,
