Well my two retrievers absolutely hate fireworks one is worse than the other and jumps on the sofa (not usually allowed) and is a right mess. Because of this fireworks annoy the hell out of me now now as well

Not much you can do about it as far as I know, although I am also open to any good tips.

btw my 2 1/2 year old daughter would like to know what your dog is called  :D

Cheers
Kev

dog is called izzy (staff bull terrier). and she is currently hiding under my chair and will not move, not even for treats. :banghead:

she's been there since a glass was placed on a  glass table and scared her again.
every time she hears a bang she looks at the sky light. and won't go out any more. HELP!

You can get a product called Se-renume (I'm sure thats it) Ask at any pet shop, it just something to calm the dog down, my nan used to use it with her old black lab that used to get scared! Seemed to do the trick!

sooo…..now we've made a dodgy doggy den (towels over cage).

this seems to work, now she goes in there when  she gets scared

I have two staffies the boy hates them and hides, the girl is not bothered.

Best to let them sort them selfs out, and def keep small kids away from stressed out dogs. They can be unpredictable with fire works…..
Two years ago a bull terrier lost it on fire work night and I think we all know the outcome,
prob did not help that the sitter was stoned out of her brain!!

If someone taps glass my dog is scared, so i think it is safe to say fireworks are out of the question.

if you act worried then the dog is going tobe more worried. make the dog relaxed, play with them, hug them, stroke them. They'll associate the fun with the situation and learn not to be scared.

My dog just thinks that someone is outside but soons sleeps again - he sleeps all day!!

praise praise praise you dog. :D it's the only way
make a fuss of them and make them centre of attention they'll soon relax and accept the noises.

My dogs aren't bothered by them at all (I'll make gun dogs of them yet - lol)

One of my mates dogs loves them and likes to go outside and watch them!

Our Saffi always attends our firework displays and watches the rockets in amazement.

a "husky mute" is that one that doesn't howl/bark.
