As Simon says adding VW in stiching would be better and stop explaining, I'd consider the biomechanic style tattoo's tho and have engine parts, or a front corner of a GTI shoing through..

Ive also got quite a good pic of a mk1 (originally pinched from here ops:  and then messed about with)  i could play with!

Ive though about the biomecanical thing but not really got round to playing with any actual designs yet.
