mystery loss of water - leak?evaporating?!?! wtf !!!!

in the land of the blown head gasket the bicycle is king

Bad luck! Hope you get it fixed soon. I've been having similar water loss problems with my mk2 for a year or so. Satisfied everything is essentially ok, changed coolant, thermostat, old hoses, expansion cap and no joy - taken to topping it up as it really just a hack, maybe I'll try a new expansion bottle.

Good luck

thanks for that Markone.
funny enough a replacement expansion bottle would have been my next
move had the gasket not proven itself guilty.
re Bert's earlier post - at least im going to change the water pump now while
im at it,so new one wont be full of nasty radweld.
take care all,may the Old Pagan God of Gaskets be with you.

Cured my leak at last  :cheer: Had a cracked water level sensor, the one in the top of the expansion tank. So i've now got a nice clean, new expansion tank, cap and sensor. Oh well, slowly replacing the whole car!
