Story and a rant about Police

A couple of you already know about this and a lot of you don't and it's not an attention thread but it's something that's happened and I feel quote angry about it but can't do a lot - so I'm going to have a rant!

Basically, me and a few friends went out on a Friday night as you do, 3 of us ended up staying out in the end and decided to move onto the next pub, stopped at a cash point on the way and proceeded across an open car park in the centre of town.

We were asked by a group of around 9 lads if we wanted to buy some drugs and we replied no, then were asked if we'd swap a ?5 note for some changed and then a ?10 for two ?5's - their intentions were obvious they wanted our wallets.

Anyways we managed to get to the end of the car park where they decided it was far enough and split into two groups, 4 on me and 3-4 on my friend (lucky the other escaped) I managed to hold a few off for a while before getting beat to the floor, I managed to get back up and fend them off until they'd had enough but my mate wasn't so lucky and ended up with his head split open at the front and the back with bruises on his face. I just have very sore ribs, a lumpy head and was quite shaken - there was a point where they were shouting aimed at me "stab him, stab him now"

I'm sorry to have to be so graphical about all this but it's making just cause for my point;

We got my friend to hospital that night and did what any other young lads did I called my mates and went looking for justice as we know the police don't always give it.

And we were right too! me and my friend (stitched and glued up) went to the police station early Saturday morning to talk to someone mainly give a statement of what happened and we were told there was no-one available to deal with us, so they took details and said they'd be in touch.

I got a phone call yesterday arranging a time to go into the station and do the statement so I went in after work 6pm, wait till half passed and then buzzed them to see what was going on, 10 minutes later they came back and said there's no-one to see me AGAIN.

I then found out they hadn't even phoned my friend back and he was a lot worse of than me, which the police officer saw!

I had a bit of a rant at the woman about the state of the country and mostly due to the fact that It seems like I'd have to be stabbed to have any justice.
 
I understand it could have a lot worse and I?m in a way thankful it happened to me and not just someone who would have lay there and took it because you don?t know how far these people can go.

I just wanted them off the street to be honest, but apparently people who commit crimes don?t seem to be punished these days!

That's horrible mate - I guess it could have been worse!

I was assaulted in June, a quiet wednesday night out with my best mate, drinking Cola as I was driving and had the roof down on the cabby.
went out about 8.30 as I had been busy working on said Car.
we went into a city pub that has got a good reputation.
2 girls come into the pub and stand next to me and my mate, eyelashes fluttering and big smiles, I didnt think they were aimed at me as i was in my dirty scruffy clothes i had on whilst valletin the motor. there were already two blokes in the pub going for it, absinthe they ordered as i stood next to them at the bar watching them sway.
about 20 mins later we hadn't paid these girls any attention so they turned to these 2 blokes, who were blagged into buying drinks for the girls, at some point for some reason unknown to me the 4 were staring at me and my mate but looking at our shoes  

about 10 mins later the DJ had put some music on and one of the girls started to do a little dance in front of the guy's, where he took it upon himself to grope her backside, things took a turn for the worse when he actually put his hands where he should not of, she moved away and gave him a finger wagging explaining his behaviour was out of order, he does no more than do it again, this time the girl tells her mate to drink up and they storm out of the pub. whilst this was going on some students had entered the pub dressed as cowboy's and injuns looking very funny and my mate and me and these students were all laughing about their costumes, the next thing I know this bloke came over to me and my mate, leant over us shouting that "you 2 think your dead flaming good,but your just a couple of sad bar stewards, you aint getting any lady folks tonight as me and my mate are having it all, etc etc etc". I really should of remonstrated with him him , but thought let him have his alcaholic fuelled rant then he will calm down and clear off, I was stood there empty glass in hand, arms folded, all i said to him was "ok mate, whatever" he then turned around and walked away, i turned to my mate next to me, to say lets go somewhere else when i felt this thud and a crack, which was my jaw breaking, i turned to where tthe bloke was stood by the door I looked at him and called him a buffoon and he ran off. my mate followed him out police were called etc.
he went to court pleaded guilty got done for GBH guess what, he already had got previous for assault, the judge gave him 2 year suspended sentence for 36 weeks, banned from the city centre pubs orderd to compensate me ?1,500 plus he had to pay prosecution costs of ?350.00.
the irony is that I am over ?6,500 in lost wages and business rent that I have to pay etc. there aint no justice, they dont want to lock people up as the jails are full, thats the shocking state of society. plus he was supposed to pay me ?150.00 a month for 10 months begining Sept, so far I have had a big fat Zero

scummy gits. seeing as no swearing on here.

Justice and respect dissapeared in the late 80's, the new generation have nothing to respect they do not even respect their selfs!

I would opt for an eye for an eye, Police whatever !

Simon, that sounds a pretty scary night out when all is said and done.

In the absence of less sensible comments above, I'll try and explain what would occur in Lancashire and I'm pretty sure elsewhere, when you report an incident of any type.

1. telephone call/ personal attendance at the front desk
2. log should be opened with reporting persons name and contact details etc
3. depending on the type of event, it is given a time grading (eg robbery in progress - shift your arse, fight in progress same, fight over and injured parties been to hospital and not life threatening (this case) make an appointment for an officer to see them and get statement
4. record crime on the recording system - will automatically do it after 3 days UNLESS there is a good reason not to crime the job eg civil action/ not a crime etc
5. get on investigating it.

I DO understand your frustration when you've been called there to give a statment but policing is a VERY flexible job. Despite the best intentions no amount of planning can cater for an urgent job/ officers dealing with prisoners from the night before (yes they are still in at 6pm from the night before.. AND BEYOND if I have my way!!!)taking longer than expected or 'sickness'.

How did things end up? Did you get seen/ statment taken and how are the enquiries going. The good thing is that you have securred your evidence (assuming that someone is prosecuted) by going to the hospital and having your injuries recorded asap.

Look at it this way and it may be the only comfort that you can get out of it. You weren't stabbed, you weren't badly injured - on the sliding scale of things (but I do understand that it was a scary moment) and you may be able to learn from it and keep out of danger in the future.

Its one reason why I don't like going into town anymore cause I see the other side of it every day of my life and like to avoid the agro these days.

One wrong blow and your a vegatable, stabbed, dead.

Lets stop beating around the bush, anyone of those blows you and your mate received could have been your last.

They were their with full intention (Pre-meditated) of preying on a victim man, woman or child. It should be no different to using a firearm.

ooops! a little to strong I apologise, but thats how it is in the urban jungle, so unless you have been a victim it's hard for you to know how 16 weeks without any income, 10 with your jaw wired shut living off soup, 2 operations on your hand and it still don't work etc and debts rising pushing you further towards having to go bust, well it's enough to make a saint swear,plus I didnt swear they did.  ops:
