just for your info…did some additional work today.

removed the old crusty fuel filler neck, and drained the fuel from the tank to replace the neck….however….on removing the old neck i must have applied pressure to the side of the car

the car must not have been steady on the stands…(well it is on gravel)

and the bloody things toppled over trapping my arm under the car

soiled my pants i did

managed after much wiggling to get me arm out with just a few scrapes

LESSON FOLKS…..if your car is on axle stands…make sure its level and firmly steady

ive now got the arduous task of figuring out how to get it back on the stands  the lot is flat to the floor…dozy twonk

on a lighter note…i can finish the filler neck swap tomorrow as my new gasket is at VW stoke :)

if its not one problem its another
collar on the adapters is too big for the wheels grrrrr

gonna have to get all 4 machined down

and i ordered the wrong size wheel bolts (numpty )

on a lighter note..finished the fuel filler neck today

took one tin top filler (cab ones are twice as expensive)…bent it…cut it…filed it, lubed it…then fitted it with new clips…..jobs a good un

new gasket fitted too….had to bend the fixing bracket slightly but worked a treat ;)

pics

view inside wing

pipe to tank after draining

spot the difference?

not any more

new gasket

had to bend this fixing bracket

done ;)

Mate you are lucky to get out of that with only a scrape! It's a bit late now  but I always put the wheels I've taken off the car back under it when working on it for exactly that reason.  Be careful dude it's a lovely car but not worth getting squished for!

Bonnet looks really cool, as you said a bit different and nice bit of fab work with the filler neck too.  Keep up the good work….safely
