i have decided against getting a mk1 now, had such a bad experience so ar on vw forums that i an going to get a car with a frendlier owners club, otherwise there is no point as i wont get any help, wont be able to attend shows, and also get attitude with everything i post

This thread started off being really good, a future owner showing everyone his existing cars, and what nice cars they are too! We are all here for the mk1 golf but surely our love of cars didn't stop in 1984 did it? When members post pics of their A3's or R5 GTT's (both of these have been posted and well received in the past 12 months) no one complains!! Now someone has gone away from the club thinking we're all a bunch of stuck up purist morons!

This section of the forum is called "Your cars and projects", suggesting that it isn't restricted to the mk1 golf. I would suggest that if there is a thread that doesn't suit your purist lifestyle, simply dont read it!!

Jeees Mr Chaz or should I say MRS Chaz………. Im glad hes not gettin a mk1 golf I think he is mental never seen such an over reaction!! I liked his skyline though  :x

So be fair, the only thing you could conclude is that ONE particular poster (who isn't a club member, and hasn't as far as I know done anything else club-related like come to any meets, etc, so his only contribution is posting messages on the forum) had a pop at the OP, and he/she has on this basis, decided that Mk1 Golfs are not for her. Others have welcomed her, as any other member.

i have a jap car but feel this is the wrong place to post as no ones interested,
just bought an audi and post pics on the audi forums. and would expect attitude for posting here

if someonewants a mk1, how has a couple of comments made in jest upset him enough to now not want to buy one :dontknow:

and as for not being able to attend shows, i have never seen car police on the gates stopping people with the wrong car getting in

as for the lovely non mk1 cars. they're all tom tit (i quite like the black skyline) and eyelinerchav, well, take evening primrose oil. i here it's meant to help.

Ok i agree the cars were not VW's and a bit of offence was banded about, but come on peeps, chill out a bit…

it's clear to me the response to steve_c was at the very least an over reaction. obviously i don't really care, but what do you expect when you post like that on a MK1 GOLF owners club site? surely you'd be expecting a bit banter somewhere along the line? mostly the responses were positive until he had a dig at steve_c. so to look at it from an unbiased, mature and intellectial point, HE STARTED IT!

Obviuosly that skyline geezer is just a bit of a bell-end! STANDARD! There is one thing to learn from all this……… the people on the skyline owners forums must be proper sound geezers if they put up with him!! same for the pugs, new found respect for peugeots    I really wouldn't read too much into fella's.  8)
