yer i can tell its going to be stress full the restoration is taking its toll on me already. As for the conversion, i have struggled finding parts especially the merc sprinter intercooler no scrapy's have one well heres some pictures of what i achived today, i had insppiration as i went to ED38 this weekend.

i picked up a bonnet at ED38 started to sand down and primer it

May cut the battery tray out, what you think, is it an easy job? i want to relocate it to the boot any way how hard is it to get rid of?

Looking good mate. You are obviously having better weather than we are here. I was lucky enough to get hold of a garage across the road from me to work on my car in.
It was a pain last year. You would go out to the drive take off the tarpolin and get ready to start then the rain would start.

Are you going to paint the car black again or are you doing it another colour?

First Golf, lots of work. I've started so I'll finish!

Merc parts are a nightmare to get hold of secondhand - the specialist breakers are all, how can I say, "not that customer friendly" kind. A lot of  old Mercs end up getting shipped in bulk to Africa and other areas, cos they keep using them over there and dont have things like MoT, etc.

yer even worse is some pikey stole my car cover and the tarpoolen and a brand new battery and radio's and stuff from the mk1 so its out side getting soaked at the min. i am not in the best of moods

car is going back to a black, most likely going to be vw black as its a good colour and fairly cheap.

as for merc parts i will keep on looking, theres a merc garage opposite my work i may try there they onnly do very old mercs like proper old ones i could ask though

cheers for the replies
