Well my mentality is to make them fit. I think so. I can raise it quite a bit as it is on the floor at the moment with the 15's so its possible.

Cheers for that, I know the Ronals have been done to death but they were only ever going to be temporary and I can't afford splits but they again have been flogged to death so these seem a bit more unique!!!

Been a while since I've been on, however my third gear disappeared last week and I have developed a few oil leaks that have covered my drivers side brakes and other working parts in muck and oil.

Got the MOT in a  couple of months so I thought a makeover of the front end was in order.

The car as it sits at the moment.

I also set the dash loom on fire a while back so that is being stripped ready to be re built.

My new daily!!!

The list of parts is endless,

and thats just the tip of the iceberg. I have a shed load of stuff still to come from CrazyQuiff and off ebay.

Should be good though when done. Not found any horrors yet and not snapped any stud!!!

I will update tomorrow when i have done more.!!

I love this cabby and think the mods are superb and subtle (Borbets would be ace) anyways what have you done to the poor thing engine wise. The 1.8 carb is usually bomb proof, have you seen the one on eBay with a genuine 70k with a starting bid of ?49.00. Might be a quick fix to see you over the summer months

As for the hood I purchased a mohair one from softtops (eBay seller) for ?207 delivered with all new cables, the quality is fantastic.

I'll check ebay out for that engine, thanks for your comments on the car. I need to get the front panel replaced as well as the hood as that has rotted through, apart from that the car is a minter!

New daily

Apart from my Missus new Beetle

After my Golf let go of all of its internals I had to buy a new daily, Merc E200 Elegance, lowered it around 60mm all round, new 18" wheels and it has full leather and is mint for a 13 year old car. Just a few w210 chassis rust spots which will be taken care of in the near future.

What do you guys think?

I know its not everyones cup of tea but its a nice bus and a real crack to drive.

This left me with the dilemma of what to do with my cabby.

I was just going to whack a new lump in and sort the front panel and enjoy it for a bit, however now I want to strip it and build the Golf I've always wanted.

Full oem+ styling, period touches on the interior with a few modern twists with some smoothing etc.

I'll get some pictures up as soon as I start.

Any guidance from anyone will be greatly received.

Cheers

Started the strip down today as after I stripped the head off the engine I found oil in 3 cylinders.

The front panel is rotton and I took off both front wings and they need replacing, the inners are ok so thats a relief.

I will post pics up tomorrow when I get more done.

These are links for my other pics which I have arranged into slideshows so they have deleted themselves from my original posts.
