Anyone in Warwickshire/Leicestershire PLEASE READ!!!

As a few of you may know, I have been looking into a location to hold a local meet covering Warwickshire/Leicestershire area's which is accessible for everyone.

I've had an informal chat with the assistant manager of a pub close to where I live which is located just off the A444 Nuneaton - Next to Bermuda Park Industrial Estate and only around 2 miles from M6 J3.

The reason I chose this pub for the main reason is the location.

Second reason is that they already host regular meets, currently running a Jaguar meet, American meet and a overall Classic Car meet.

I'll be working with Sam_m and NathBlack with this and we're hoping to get everyone we can in the local area involved and hopefully draw some more attention to the club.

Please if you think that you might even attend only once can you just give me a shout on here as tomorrow I'm going to have a chat with the landlord give him some information about the club and print this thread off.

Just as a rough idea;

Warwick    -  18miles
Leicester   -  22miles

Thanks in advance,

Simon

Yeah that was my next step, I bumped into Sam yesterday after work and I've told him that I've been designing a poster as and when I've been at home, as soon as they're done I'll send you a load through the post and start sticking them in windows ect.

Gonna go to the pub tonight, have a chat to Steve (landlord) see which nights gonna be best for us/them and then I can finish it off, get them away!

Isn't this already covered under Midlands or East Midlands?

No Paul, Midlands region at present covers West Midlands, we meet once a month on a Wednesday evening. Being an evening meet it is impractical for Nath, Simon and Sam or anyone over East Mids to attend a meet on the other side of Birmingham, the traffic on the M6 /M69 is rammed till 7pm during the week

Nath, Simon and Sam are East Midlands and are trying to sort out a convenient location to meet on an evening that doesn't involve driving through rush hour traffic on the M6

OK No worries, I remember when I did the stats a month or so ago, I was 1) surprised at the massive size of the "midlands" area (there is no agreed, single definition of this area of the country) and 2) surprised at the lack of activity, given its size. So I guess the embryonic proposal to split midlands into east and west will make sense. The entire regional structure is inconsistent, historically regions were simply plucked out of the existing meets which were occuring at the time. I understnad it was all discussed at the AGM but I was unable to attend and the minutes havent been published yet....

Also I think when I did route planner it worked out to be around 30miles from me, and Nathan living in Leicester worked out to be a lot more, plus traffic and the drive isn't that nice, it's an awful long way to go on a week night.

We did take into concideration the effects on the other two nearest locations being Midlands and Northamptonshire but as above, there's nothing really "local" around Warwickshire / Leicestershire.

Also an update:

I've been in touch with the landlord, he's happy with what we'll be doing and given me all the details, we've also decided on a first date but I'll officially post it with full details of location over the next few days!

Got the location, just need the people now!

Yeah, at the AGM it seemed like the overall decision was the push the regions as much as we all could, as you can see I came away pretty motivated, I think everyone else did too.

I'd agree with the minutes needing posting, cause I've forgot a lot.

Did they suggest how the club can push/encourage the regions? (Apologies for going off topic….)

Can't remember all that much, you'll have to wait for the offical minutes cause my mind is like a sieve, but generally more repsoniblity given to the people who run each region to ensure they bring in numbers consitantly, please corret me if I'm wrong though!

Don't worry about off topic, this post needs all the publicity it can get at the minute!

Even better.. I got home and forgot I signed up last week, so I got 8 free tickets to get in, so don't even have to spend 80p

Also, I had a chat with Sam_m last night and we're gonna travel up the Midlands meet sometime over the next couple of months [cough]when his car's back on the road[/cough]
