84 jetta coupe project

Well I guess I can start showing some progress on my 84 coupe that I bought last May.  I bought this coupe in Gainesville for $400 and it is pretty much rust free.  It was stored in a unit up to the time I bought it.  This is how it looked once I got it home.

After about 5 months the "tear down' started…

This  is the stock 1.7 8v that I was gonna turbocharge but I have other plans now.

Pulling the 1.7 8v and starting to clean up things for something new.

This 1.8 16v was pulled out of a 87 scirocco that was left over a year at my buddie's place so it made a great donor vehicle.  This is before.

And this is after.

Another view.

Once the tranny is done it will be dropped into the car.  Here is what the inside look like once I start cleaning and shampooing.

The front and rear seats will get reskinned close to the orginal real soon.

The 87 scirocco is covered up under the camo cover which will lose alot of its parts to go on the coupe.

I got a set of polished teardrops to put on my coupe once it is done.  I thinking about putting 185/55/14 tires on them.  I got them from a friend for a really good price.  Here they go…
