Haven't updated this in quite a while but have been keeping active on the forum - mainly from an observation point though!

Anyways, the car is still running sweet apart from hitting a speed bump and damaging he fuel filler neck and tank…so go nee ones of those to go on.

Other than that I've now fitted some 15's for better ride quality and a bit more ground clearance:  9A9FC392-124B-4226-A743-E558E16CC275.jpeg 652597B0-776F-4AB3-BD26-4180573645DC.jpeg

Also got back into a golf as a daily driver after a foray into a few fast audis and a BMW: 17F3D7AF-7DBF-48A1-99CC-9F8840B51079.jpeg

Hey all,

Not sure how to update the title but I can say it was defo updated later than 2011!

So, a lot has happened since the last update (which was a while ago!) - first and foremost, I have become a dad to a wonderful little boy who is now 2!

Secondly, the MK7.5 was an amazing car and I enjoyed the 2 years I had it, but truth be told it was just too much money to have sat in a car when I have a wedding to fork out for and the little one too - so sold it and I now have scratched an itch I’ve had for some time, a MK5 Edition 30!

Finally, the MK1 - so after 15 years of ownership and the whole restoration - I drove it for a couple of years in the standard form (1.5 3spd Auto) and as fun as it was being low and slow, it was really just no good in modern traffic and was just too slow and sitting at like 4k on the motorway - and finally I really missed actually working on the car!

So I’ve decided that it is time for some power, besides as much as I wanted to keep it standard, it’s my car and it will always be my car so I’m not too fussed about the originality anymore - so 1.8t here we go!

The build has been ongoing for a while now and I am nearly at the point of getting it on the road - it is running but I need to finalise the pedal box and the exhaust - in hand but just waiting for the space in the exhaust place.

I have a build thread with details on Instagram if you wanna take a look (@angus_78_mk1) - but for now here are a few pics:

As these things do, it grew arms and legs in a sort of ‘while I’m in there’ kind of way!

So basically along with the engine swap I’ve ended up doing the following:

. Engine bay stripped and repainted as it was looking tired after the first resto
. New radiator and intercooler
. Strip of front and rear suspension, blast and powder coat
. G60 front brakes and full refurb of rears
. New handbrake cables
. New brake lines throughout
. Wilwood bias pedal box
. New fuel lines throughout
. New fuel tank
. Strip and paint of chrome bumpers (internally) and blast/powder coat of brackets/hardware

I’m sure there will be other things but that is what I can think of off the top of my head! WIll try and keep this page updated as well as the Instagram page - things are a little quiet at the moment whilst waiting for the exhaust to be done.

In the mean time I have managed to get hold of a DC TIG welder so I’m going to have a crack at some of the intercooler pipe work while I wait - if it turns out daffodil then can just get the exhaust place to do it! I’ve done welding before but only MIG, ARC and Oxy/Acetelyne so looking forward to having a go at it!

Laters for now
