The 'Sportline' !

I washed it and polished it this weekend, so heres some pics for you…

Your rear badges have faded as they all do, you can either get the refurb kit from chortle on the forum or on eBay search for Vw Golf Mk1 Sportline and there is new badge set for the bootlid for £80, which is expensive but worth it if your keeping the car long term like me.

the interior is as tidy, albeit faded somewhat unfortunatley.

The rear seat has a stain on it but apart from that its very good, the drivers bolster is a bit soft now, but i have a plan for the interior in the years ahead.

I kind of like the rear badges in black and want to get them painted matt black, in fact i think they have been already…

yes it does, but it has no Karman badges or stone chip foils, but I like it like this.

im sure they all had the 'cabriolet' badges…

I love the black Sportline and wanted one but it took me long enough to find a good red one !!

Then after travelling from Edinburgh to London to buy mine, a black one came up, 10 miles away only a week later :-(

this one came up for sale on this very forum and it was only 60 miles away.

I viewed three Rivages but in the end the Sportline just pulled my heart strings.

Looks pretty good. Amazing what a bit of a polish can do for a motor. I went the new route with the badges too, got tired of doing the refurbs! If you need any sportline bits, have a stash hidden away... Alloys look pretty clean, Any interior shots and it that the original roof too?

Patience is the answer and IMO the Sportline is a better looking car than the Rivage.

I would have taken a Rivage leather as well but I only saw 1 and it was a right dog and still £3500 :-D.

Enjoy the things that you need to do to it as that's the best part of it, trying to improve it without ruining it and working through the to do list……..but the list never gets shorter :-)

Oh and remember  to register it with Shughy as Hugh has his register going for Sportlines.

I have noticed your stash of bits Hugh and no doubt I will be in touch if I need something.

The roof was replaced in 2004 but the rear window frame on the inside is rusty and is letting water in which has caused the rear shelf and bars to bend.

So i'm planning on getting that sorted and then a new rear shelf and boot carpet to tidy it all up.

The alloys were refurbed at home by the previous owner and I must admit its a very very good job, albeit a slightly different shade of silver.

make sure you get it registered on Hughs sportline site, and get to the AGM so we can add another one in the sportline annual picture :-)

look who came out of hibernation last week with a new steering wheel, gear knob, gaitor and number plates..














Since the pics she has had a new Black Aeriel fitted and has been lowered all ready for Stanford Hall.

Might even fit the new rear lights before next weekend too….

The gaitor was of eBay aswell as the aerial (which is a bit cheapy, but looks perfect, just feels cheap). If you want the seller id's let me know.

The steering wheel has been re-trimmed compliments of Shughy.

I am chuffed with it, I'll get some pics of it with the aerial and lower stance..

Yes Hugh said he would sort mine if read but I have found somewhere local shi I will goto when I have the cash.

Pm me the eBay for the gaiter please do I can have a look.
