The diesel daily!

Decided to find out why my fan belt keeps squealing on the weekend. Despite constantly re tensioning it I thought there must be another problem and what eventually noticed was this.



The pulleys are not aligned which must be causing the belt to polish and in turn, squeal.  
Obviously it's the alternator one thats running off and then I notice the top mounting bolt



Not sure if it's the wrong alternator as i've since put that washer on the left hand side but unfortunately the mounting hole has worn oval and so is pulling the pulley back. so my next mission is to find what I reckon to be the correct alternator..

GSF mate i think they do one for £40

Blans, I can do you an alternator, brackets and even chuck in the cambelt pulley cover for £20 + postage  :wink:

Not much news of late because blue peril has been hassle free..  :cheer:

…but i'm starting to get bored of being smoked at the lights.. gonna keep the soot but it needs spicing up a bit.

Ummm 170bhp PD TDI Lump maybe??

Nope only a TD but should be a whole world of difference from the 1.6n/a bit gutted to be taking it out though to be fair now that it's running so well…

It's not that original in it's current guise anyway as it has a 1.5d head on a 1.6 short engine.. It's just the super reliability I got at the moment that i'm gonna miss. Maybe I'm just being a bit of a pessimist  :dontknow: still looking forward to have a turbo whistle though.  :mrgreen:

i got a spare cyclinder head if needed mate

my diesel was going to stay standard,but keeping up with others and modern driving a Turbo diesel was looked into,well chuffed with mine 115 bhp and loads of torque which is great and still good on fuel,can go up mucklow hill at 90 and its steep  :mrgreen:
Son loves going in it,calls it the fast one  :wink:
