Well studs tested both and the chrome one is turning the wrong way so will be sending back to germany just hope they have the right one.

Rear brace arrived yesterday so picked up this morning from post office, and out in to the garage to get it fitted, slight tap with the rubber hammer just to get the U brackets on then bolted up, nice fit and nice and shiny .
The cabbys are well braced at the rear any way but they are still prone to flexing, so this cant do any harm.

Before any one says anything yes I know these are not chrome and shiny.
Looking forward to the summer and getting the hood down and hopefully some good weather, I wanted to get a wind blocker (windschott) for the Rivage driving at anything over 40 can get a bit draughty around the back of the neck (and it wrecks you hair if you have any, could have went for the Audrey Hepburn look, head scarf and sunglasses but would look strange on a bloke or would it? )Lol.
So checked out some wind blockers, various sizes and very expensive for what they are, so gave German E-bay the once over and found these, a little bit different from the norm and can be kept on the seats all the time, also made by KAMEI.
Should get them this week.
Back to the chrome, boxed up the starter and posted it back to Germany for a refund or a replacement.

Going to change the 6 side body trims, the ones on my car are black, but I had seen a few blue Rivage's with the black side trim and chrome insert,  looked pretty good, so back to the shiny bits got a full set tonight yup you can guess where E-Bay, delivery in the next few days. Time to call with VW for some of the little clips if they have them, just in case I need to replace any.

Wind blocker arrived today easy fit and well made, height and position can be adjusted to suit the car, so out with the allen keys and quickly fitted, will adjust the final position once we get a good day to get the car out and the roof down.
As they now sit the front seats can be pulled forward and the wind blockers do not rub or catch on anything.

Chrome and black side trims arrived today, perfect condition no bends dents or marks they will just need a good polish and clean, did a trial fit tonight and they look the part.
I will have to replace some of the plastic clips as the old ones are brittle and have lost their spring. Would hate to lose a trim the first good day I get her out.
The photos do not really do them justice but as I've said look the part.

Had the day off so had a tinker at the car, new trim clips arrived, so removed all the old ones with new and put on the chrome side trim, a bit fiddly as the rear side drivers trim and 1 door trim did not want to clip on so has to slightly adjust the chrome trim so they would clip on nice and tight.
Also picked up a piece of sheet stainless steel and cut out a new stainless top radiator card. A day well spent.

Bought 2 new galvanised hose clips for the radiator return hose as the ones which where fitted looked a bit grubby  and gold plated them, took the plating OK.

Spent the last few nights sorting out the template for the boot cards.
First rough template measured up and put together ,then main template marked out  from that and cut, just need to get the plywood and covering to make the final cards.
Also picked up a reducer elbow for the air intake mod, so hope to get that sorted as well, reverted back to a K&N cone filter as the ramair was to big.

Nice handy wee job for tomorrow if I get the time, picked up the alternator today great finish with gold plated screws and nuts. Nearly sure its chromed by Nordic-chrome in Germany the best you can get. Also got the hardboard for the boot cards.

Some nice item you've brought there, the next part of my project is to tidy up the engine bay and wasn't going to go chrome but impressed with what you've got and starting to come round to the idea.

Are all the chrome items from German Ebay, or are you in direct contact with this company for items?

Thanks for the comments, started out like you just have a nice clean engine bay then saw a few chrome bits on E-Bay so just started from there, most of the chrome has been E-Bay uk just check every day by putting in vw mk1 golf chrome, and over time i have picked up every thing i wanted. Never bid over the odds big items like the starter and alternator are always going to be expensive but if you hold out you can be lucky. I got the alternator for 80 quid + postage, it sells for over 200euros from Nordic Chrom, so thats been the best buy so far.Bolts and nuts are easy just buy stainless steel and polish them up your self.
Nordic-chrome and Custom Tuner in Germany sell very bit you would ever need but they can be pricey they sell on German E-Bay and are happy to sell to UK buyers they also use paypal. Got some bits of LMR on E-BAY and have also contacted them ref getting some of my own parts chromed got a good price from them so may use them if i cant get the final bits.
As the Rivage is 93 some MK2 bits also fit.
The car is never going to be a show car, but it makes me smile and so does every one else when you lift the bonnet, sad i know but then thats MK1 owners.
If you are going to buy on German E-Bay check they post to UK before you bid also not many do paypal.
My Germans not to bad but i use babel fish to translate and it gets the message across. Good luck but a word of warning if its chrome and shiney once you start you cant stop i know and so does my wife LOL Check out Custom tuner you will be hooked !!!!!!!http://www.custom-tuner.de/index2.html

Managed to slip out for a few hours so took out the old alternator and fitted the chrome one, looks well. Also picked up an off cut of 6mm ply at B&Q so cut the first boot card out just need to drill the mount holes and pump access hole and boot light. Then get them covered. I am also going to cut out a piece to cover the boot of the floor.

Well just been updated by the guy in Germany on the chrome starter motor, seems the magnets had been damaged in posting so he has repaired the problem and is sending it back to me, i have e-mailed him back to make sure the starter is now turning the correct way, heres hoping.

Update on the bootcards, had picked up a cream leather hid when i got the leather seats and had planned to trim some other parts of the car but the color was not a close enough match, rather than have it laying around i am going to cover the boot cards in the cream leather, might be a bit OTT but im not going to be using it for anything else.AHHHHHHHHHHHHHH LEATHER!!!!!!! MIGHT HAVE ENOUGH LEFT IF ANY ONE WANTS TO STITCH UP SOME LEATHER SHORTS FOR THE SUMMER LOL.
