It looks like the chassis leg is in the way - so I'll be chopping some of the width out of it and using a thick plate to close it up again - just need to find a steel merchant nearby, who'll chop the min 4m length in half so I have a fighting chance of getting it home!
The other option is to go for "version 2" driveshafts, getting an even shorter left one made up, and a longer right one. But its simply too costly….
I've figured out the mount on the gearbox side, I'm going to make custom brackets up and reuse the rear engine/tranny mount, it works out much more compact than the VR6 mount. Front mount should be relatively easy. No idea about the engine side mount yet, though.

Paul, i've got access to a laser profiling machine if you need any complex steel shapes cutting for you just to weld together (custom mounts etc) can cut between 0.5mm to 20mm thick plate quite accurately. 8)

Well, only a little mod. I'd previously chopped the door frame off at the bottom and made a ramp, this proved to be inadequate when the engine crane holding the VR6 was on it. So I've upgraded and widened the ramp, to be wide enough for the engine crane, so I have a fighting chance of getting the engine out of the shed.
