pic heavy update 22/12/2011 !!
hi, absolutely fuming today should of been a good weekend it should be painted so went in got the car ready all masked and ready for its new coat. so i thought i d get all the parts out and start cleaning and sorting ready for re fit then i came acroos my seats , and to my horror found that the little bastard rats had attacked one of my seats!!!! to say i was angry would be an understatement. they will now need a re trim more expense!!!!
and here is the other good one foot prints but no damage!!

Firstly amazing build thread dude, just read through to here and really impressed, hats off for tackling this. Secondly bloody vermin !!! Not on the same scale but my windscreen washer bottle cap had been nibbled on by a furry critter, think he was after the water !!! Luckily none of the wires have been touched !!! Keep the up dates and pics coming !!!

Gutted about the seats mate, on the plus side though - perhaps you can do something a bit different with them, maybe get some good old gti check patter or something in there?

thanks andy its been along process!! the rats i ll kill them all lol!!!
i was thinking of getting the middle re trimmed in a faabric like the early gti s like tartanish stuff i know what i mean i ve seen pics but hey i ll see its all about costs just wanted them in till i could afford to have it done ANNOYED!!!!

hi people, new update still not painted now i m hoping it will be done tomorrow but we will see. so instead i have still been busy. rear axle stripped, etch primed, anti corrosion primer then resprayed jet black. front grill surrouund stripped any chips filled and then repainted. steering rack painted. sunroof painted, front strut brace stripped and painted, and the backing plates to the rear drums stripped etched, anti corrosion primed and then sprayed jet black.

hi people, very happy today the car is painted !!!!! now the hard work starts again the shell now will have to be flatted to get it perfect then polished but it will be worth the effort

lol andy if you mean when you say let the fun begin you mean the wet flaattin well your right lovin it not 1!!!!!
started the wet flatting today after getting the car out the booth. the bonnet needs repainting i think when it was painted its blown up some bits front the vents and when i ve flatted them they are white so thats going to be done again.

looks slightly different colour outside the booth and will probably look different again in the sun light lol
