New Mk1 Gti Owner - Build Thread
However what I think is the fuel pump is leaking from the upper pipe as it looks like it has been retro fitted as the link has snapped. Sprry about my lack of technical knowledge Im hoping to learn from this car though! Just wondered if someone could point me in the right direction with a part no. or even the right part which Im looking at.
I have a Mk5 as a daily driver and bought the mk1 because i have always wanted one before they are all 6k+. Problem is that I cant find classic car insurance for the mk1 as Im 19. I have been told it is possible to get it under 21?
Here is a photo of it… and the leaking area once the engine is started. Hope this helps. Thanks!

thats the fuel accumulator thats leaking it helps mainten fuel pressure , I would like to see a photo of the other connection the pipe goes to before I make a suggustion on a repair , i dont know if the banjo connector is still there or has being cut off.

Iv had it off and it looks like the connection, (elbow joint) has snapped off so the pipe doesn't sit on too well. The pipes are something I'm going to change soon as I don't think they are too clever either. I'll post a picture tomorrow to see if that helps.
Thanks
Chris

Well the car isn't moving at the moment and wont be until the leak is sorted and once I removed it it's made it a lot worse as it won't sit properly anymore. Would be pretty hard to find one of them Banjo connections so I wonder whether a repair/retro fit would be best.
Cheers
Chris
hi
im pretty sure you could source the connection on the net , but if you want to the job right first time Crazy Quiff sells the hose your looking for , but i dont know where the other end goes , its either from the pump or to the Supply fuel Line , no point in buying the CQ pipe if the supply line Has being cut to fit the Hose
there is 3-4bar pressure in the supply line & the correct suitable fittings should be used
cheers

Another question iv got is the paint code lp9v is for my car. At some point in it's life someone has sprayed it with a rattle can, even over the stickers. Taking a bit of the paint back to the original paint with polish shows a more dark grey than black colour. Is that paint code for Swartz black? A history check shows it's originally black.
Thanks

\'Check Your Nuts!\' My partner has just been through an operation and chemotherapy for Testicular Cancer and is only 29. He had no lump or pain, just became swollen… If in doubt, get to the doctor!

Yeah I looked at the sticker on the rear panel to get the paint code lp9v. A bit of forum searching came up with a rare metallic swarz black/grey but no one seems to be sure. The black paint code is la9v. I thought there was only one black in the gti model.
