this may have been answered before.. but why did you buy a 1.8, then stick a 1.1 in it :?

i would have just sourced a 1.1… or maybe a 1.3 (like ive got hard to insure at our age

 It was a golf N for sale as a rolling shell with a 1.8 (not in the car)

It had to be a 3 door, small engine, mars red and have chrome bumpers….so I had to get it and half the engine conversion was done for me (engine removal). And its not often an almost 30 yr old car comes up with 90% of the spec you want and only an hour away from you live.

I would have spent more if I was to buy another golf and change it to the way I wanted it.

Luckily the 1.1 engine was sourced from a member on here. Dont know what I would have done if it wasnt for ebay and especially this forum! thanks to everyone who I got parts from.

Well, mini update. Got a set of centre caps for the 60's and its now sitting on 175/50s so looks a lot better i think. its a lot lower than the last time I updated. A mate helped me polish the car today so we got it done quite quick and took some photos! Well…lots of photos  Heres a few

Slower than i would like !
Shell is in high build primer now and almost ready for paint
Spent alot more time smoothing out the engine bay tho all brackets removed and holes welded up etc
Alot of bits cleaned and painted ready to refit when rest done
Stil not sure what colour to go for

Hope to get some more pics on soon when made more progress
