My busted front end golf rebuild

Post

This was one of my first full golf rebuilds

My "flying custard" mk1 golf had to under a full rebuild after the handbreak failed which allowed it to rolled off down a hill and crash into a street sign causing the front end to crumple up…..I did not find out about the smash to I came out in the morning and thought the car had been stolen, but as I looked down the street, I could see it wedged into the sign on the curb. So began its transformation into a nice black golf and lost its nickname of "flying custard" …..
The front end looking rather sad….The rear engine mount casting on the engine block had also snapped off with the impact.

damaged front panel removed and replacement waiting to be welded in place..

Car stripped out ready for primer and paint….

The golf in its first few coats of 2k black paint before it gets colour sanded and final painting…

My finished golf in black and it was well worth the effort……

Wish i still had this one, but this was done a few years ago when I was living in South Africa….

I don't think I would've liked to be standing in front of that when it hit the sign . . .ooofffff

I was lucky it only bent the Stop Sign over and got stuck on it, as it would have gone through a brick wall  :P  on other side of the street and this would have been much worse on the golf as the street was very steep :ocf_emoticons__oops: Its what happens if you park on a steep drive with a dodgy handbrake…lol….
