My 1982 16v

More welding done today, couple of pic





Starting to get to the end of the welding now, just the sill to fit and a couple of other holes to repair.

Then its on to removing the old underseal

Must be good to be near the end of welding. I hope you don't uncover the need for more though when you remove the underseal ;)

Got the drivers side sill welded on today, still got to tidy up the welds



I'm quite happy with the joint at rear quater panel, should be fine with some filler over it  :thumbs:

Thanks guys, got another 3 small bit of welding done today, not pics tho. Back to work tomorrow so I wont have much time to work on it again, welding is almost done anyway  :thumbs:

Not alot happening with this just now, just cleaning up getting ready for paint, been doing body work for what feels like forever, so decide to start servicing the engine tonight, new timing belt fitted

So much easier with the engine out of the car. I changed one on a Corrado yesterday and every nut and bolt was a fight - took half a day in the end!!  :o

Yeah I know what you mean, had the same problem with my mates mk2 8v GTI at the start of the month, half day to fit timing belt and a new camshaft

Yeah thats right, couple of hours after work most nights so adds up, got some done this weekned




It feels good to be putting parts back on to the car

eerrm, 19th february primer, 22nd february fully painted - now thats quick working  :thumbs:

Yeah it good to get new parts going back on, I had to work quick with the painting, as I dont normally get to work on the car at weekend, go to make the most of it  :thumbs:

Hi mate… I'm soon to be carrying out the same engine conversion on my mk1… I'm going to be fitting g60 brakes, would I be able to use the drive shafts from the donner car or the existing ones from my mk1?

Sam gti I am currently in the middle of this conversion I used my mk1 gti shafts I am trying to keep it as straight forward as I can good luck bud.

Oh ok… so have you used the mk1 gearbox then? 
The car looks great by the way!
