Thanks!

Don't think I'll be 100% until everything is sorted, but yeah I'm happy with the progress.

The grille has to go though. Looks cheap and plasticky!

What should I go for???  :dontknow:  :dontknow:  :dontknow:

I like the one on Bouchay's is yours not the same as it really suits the look of the car. Ours has the standard black sportline grill so i am not sure what other options would suit. I will be posting the pics of my finished interior tomorrow I have not had time due to rushing about trying to get everything done before I go back to work as I neglected a few things after starting on the car.
there is a guy up my neck of the woods who has a stunning grey tintop with a nice minimalist type grill and his son has just finished a duck egg blue one which is going to be in the next edition of golf plus magazine that has the same grill. Both have 1.9 TDI engines.
If I find his details I will send them to you so you can take a look . I am travelling at the moment so it will probably be tomorrow evening before I update my thread

That'd be great cheers!

Maybe I could spray my existing to take the plasticky sheen off it it?

Satin black textured??

I had a mint one like Bouchays but sold it as I wasn't sure it suited the car. Maybe I was wrong! Bugger!

Hi,
I can not find the contact details for the guy with the grille. He is one of my wifes business clients so I will ask her to get details when she sees him next sorry about that. His sons car will be featured in Golf plus as I said
You said you may be getting a new sub have you thought about a Hertz ultra thin I have the 8" hooked up to two bridged channels of the JL Audio amp and it would blow my windows out. I have mine bolted to the cross member- no phots I'm afraid as I am at work but here is a link to the the website.
http://www.raysmith.co.uk/hertz-energy-ebx-f20-5-flat-subwoofer-with-enclosure.html It is only 100mm thick and is easily removed from the mounting bracket without any tools. Plus it has quite a robust grill over the speaker which would stop it getting trashed by anything sliding about in the boot
I will get some photos of mine when I get home from work.
If you are thinking of power steering try looking at the MK2 mania website £420 + a refundable £50 surcharge for your old column exchange. I bought one on monday so it's dash out again when I get back home. The list grows

Thanks for the info.

I'll have a look into the hertz sub, although I've built my boot amp rack on to the cross member now and would be a pain to shift it.

Going to see how my 10" sounds when I get my infinity amp fixed. Sounds ok with a 10 year old jbl amp at the mo, so hopefully will sound better with a new amp.

Would be great to see some pics of yours though.

Working through my snagging list at present (and taking it for a spin whenever I get the chance!)

I cant' get over how stunning this car looks. Beautiful colour!
I do not get back to the UK until the 20th June. I will take some photographs then The sub is in but  I have to finish off the boot before I start on the suspension and brakes.

Great thanks.

Managed to get some of my snags sorted this weekend.

The speedo still jumps a little…think it needs seating properly in the back of the clocks.

Need a new stereo headunit as mine doesn't play my iphone.

Went for a spin this weekend and took some more pics. The more I drive it the better it seems to run. Suppose the engine needs bedding in and loosening up.

Anyway…pics…

Will be getting the engine bay cleaned up and detailed next as it's still quite dusty from the respray.

Can get the boot build finished also, once I get my amp back. Will get some pics up when it's done…

New amp finally arrived today and it works! Sounds really good although it'll take a day or two for the amp and speakers to setlle in. Still needs a few tweeks.

Didn't waste any time and got straight on with finishing the boot install. Sorry about the poor pics…left my camera at home  :(

Amp mounted…

Another angle with my sub binding posts…

Sub fitted…

Pleased with how it turned out.

Still got to make some cards to cover the holes and the boot-pop solenoid in the bootlid.

Spent an hour soundproofing the bootlid as there were some serious rattles when the bass was thumping.

All sorted now, with only the smallest of vibrations coming from the lock itself. Without taking that apart, I don't see how I can cure it! Maybe I'll leave that to a later date??

Ordered a new speedo cable as mine is clicking at speed (taken it out and re-fitted 3 times but no joy!). Order new speedo drive gear, dash bulbs, steering wheel and boss today.

Then it's just bootlid cards, rear seat cards and a full monty detail clean on the whole car…

Ready for July 6-8th!!!! Yipee!

Looks the elephants nuts!!…I did not consider the bootlid..still I have to finish my boot I will definately be looking at that.
I bumped into a guy from the Source Audio when I was having my tyres done and he said that Focal's take quite a while to settle down. Love the colour… tempted to buy another project when this one is finished just so I can have one that colour!!!

The focal are awesome compared to the jbl's in the front.

Wish the tweeters were the same size, as I'd put them in the front also. Could buy new door card covers again??

It's sounds good enough for now though.

The boot lid cards should finish it off. You can see my soundproofing if I leave them open.

Your seats look niiiiice! Bet you can't wait to get going again can you?
