Hooray…progress this week.

Gave the bodyshop a deadline and they've started.

As it stood at the beginning of the week…

Doors, wings and bonnet off…

The only rust on the car was a front wing which they've cut out, welded and filled…

Happy days! More updates to follow later this week hopefully!

Popped in to the bodyshop today to see what had been done in the last couple of days…

front wing had now been prepped…

Good to see they'd covered my nice clean engine!

Arches are looking nice now that they're flared too.

They'd made a start on the rear 1/4…

Found a couple of small holes. Usual place around the fuel filler and the rear lip for the roof (nothing major though)

They're doing a great job as the old metal is being cut out, welded then filled….

Fuel filler plate inserted, yet to be welded…

2 weeks now and it'll be done!

Thanks.

Hopefully won't be too long now.

Whilst my garage is empty i did some prep work.

Cleaned my roof seals down… That's sticky stuff!

Found some rust on the rear roof strap brackets, so rust treated them and gave them a new coat of paint…

Cleaned all other window rubbers whilst I was at it and gave my hockey sticks a rub down and re-paint.

Picked my drivers seat up from the bodyshop so I could start retrimming it. Wasn't looking forward to this job, but may as well get it done while the cars in for paint.

At least it's not too dusty!!…

20 minutes later and it looked like this…

Quick tip for anyone wanting to remove their head rest fixings. I struggled for an age on the passenger seat. Took 2 minutes using a cable tie. Why didn't I think of this 1st time?!

Found a few spots of rust (as I did with the passenger seat), treated it and gave a new coat of paint.

Cleaned down everything in sight (don't want dirt on the new covers when i come to stick them on)

Ordered more seat padding, high temp glue and a new mohair roof skin. Should all be here tomorrow so I can crack on!

More updates tomorrow…

Just use a smaller size socket on the legs of the headrest pins.
And push through. This collapses the legs so you can push it enough to remove.

But 2 more measure the spacings and then you can do the rears also.

Didn't think of that!

Good thinking.

Think I'll leave the back for now. Had enough of the interior to last me a lifetime.

May look good though????

Don't suppose you had any joy with the rear straps Carl? I found a company selling 100mm polyproylene. Could cut them down possibly?

Had some goodies arrive yesterday.

New navy mohair roof. Looks excellent quality, cant wait to fit it!

Got some high temp adhesive for the roof. As good as Dunlop apparently.

Bought all these next bits from A S Trim. Great service and really helpful too.

More seat foam for the retrim of my front seat.

And some high temp spray adhesive and high temp auto silicone/adhesive.

Not the most exciting pics I know!

the problem with cutting it down would be that it may start to fray.

I am still looking for you.

Finally finished my drivers seat yesterday.

OMG! I forgot how difficult it was! Again, my fingers are like buches of bananas this moring from all the pushing, shoving and fettling!

Got there in the end. Not as happy with it as my 1st seat, but it'll do until I win the lottery! LOL

Seats were padded out with extra foam to get a nice tight fit (too tight for my fingers!)

Covers were fitted…..eventually.

I now have a pair!…

Will be resting for a couple of days, waiting for my car to come back.

Going to pop in to check on progress today armed with my camera.

D-Day next Saturday…

Few more pics from the bodyshop.

Didn't realise there were so many dents and flaws in the rear 1/4 panel.

At least it'll be flat when it's done…

I went for real leather rather than leatherette.

Should last longer and wear better on the bolsters.

£500 including door cards.

Had a text today from the bodyshop…

"About time you came up and took some pics"

Progress…at last!

Passenger side in primer

Bumper and doors being prepped as we speak

Doors prepped

Boot prepped

Starting to take shape…

They want it finished and out of their way now so they're going to press on full steam next week.

Maybe they're just fed up with me "popping in to check progress??!"
