Full steam ahead getting the car ready for respray.

Goes in on Monday!

Got all arches smoothed today. Underseal them tomorrow.

Bonnet is back on.

Bumpers are rust treated behind and back on.

Bleed the brakes tomorrow and get the wheels back on.

Had these arrive today…should give it a nice stance.

25mm hubcentrics on the rear and 20mm on the front. Shouldn't be any rubbing issues as the arches have been rolled properly now.

Garage booked for tune up on Friday, then on to the exhaust company to get it tweeked. Not blowing, but it's sitting quite tight to the underside if the car.

More pics to follow tomorrow!

Well she's finished ready for the re-spray at last.

Putting her back together…

She moved for the 1st time in months! Helleluiyah! Gave the garage a quick sort too…

Off to the tune up we go…

Not sure how legal it is to drive her in this state but oh well…  :shhh:  :shhh:

She drove really well on the short trip to the garage. Forgot how raw it feels to drive!

Conked out a few times on the way and had some very odd looks too.

Made me laugh  :D  :D wasn't sure if I could drive mine to the spray shop without the roof, doors or screen etc as it was only a couple of miles away :dontknow:

Chickened out and payed for a recovery truck in the end.

Your car looks great at the moment worth all the hard work!!

course you can, you know there are a lot of cars available new without any of that stuff ;)

Thanks mate.

Bit of a snag whilst being tuned up.

Just wont idle very well when its cold, so got a new cold start valve coming. Hopefully that'll sort it.

Thought everything was going too well…

Had to put the spray shop off till next week too. Bugger!  :(

Spray Job

I hope your new spray job looks as flat as it currently does….or you'll be spending another week flatting and polishing!!!

Local garage is sh*t!! Supposed to be a Bosch specialist. I don't think so.

Not a happy chappy….  :(

1 week later and they still haven't sorted the tuning issue. Wasn't cold start valve…it had run out of petrol! Numpties!

Picked it up today and it runs even worse than it did when I picked it up. From now on I'll do it myself.  :banghead:

I changed the o ring on the idle adjustment screw when I got back to my garage, tweeked the mixture screw and it's running a dream (still got to check the timing as I'm sure they didn't bother doing that either)

If you want something doing properly…do it yourself…

Got to wait another 2 weeks for respray now as I'd missed my slot thanks to the garage…. :(

DISASTER DAY!!

Took the car for a spin to check she was driving ok…she was until…

forgot to tether the bonnet down and you guessed it…WHAM!

Bonnet up against the windscreen. Windscreen OK, couple of dents to the scuttle (externally). Bonnet OK. Bonnet hinges are bent like bananas!

New ones on order.  :banghead:

Thank god she wasn't painted yet!

What a donkey. Drove about a mile back to the garage with the bonnet up…couldn't shut it. Very red faced.  :redfaced:

More work before she goes in for paint…

New bonnet hinges arrived!

OMG…take a look at the old and new…

Spot the difference!

Slightly bent. No wonder I couldn't shut my bonnet!

Fitted the new ones and went off to the bodyshop at last.

Had to mention the slight damage to my scuttle area which needed adding to the list of work for them!

Their face was a picture when I pulled up. What had they let themselves in for! :whiteflag:

Anyone in the SouthWest need a pucker paint job doing…give Dave a call. Top guy and great price too!

More updates to follow. I'll pass by every now and then to take some pics.

How exciting!

Car's now safely tucked away for paint so I thought I'd do some smaller bits…

Adding a touch of carbon fibre to here and there so started wrapping!

Took a while to get used to heating up the wrap enough so that it moulded to the objects.

The trick is bit by bit and just enough heat to make the wrap go floppy.

Pleased with the results although if it doesn't look right on the car then I'll whip it off.

Wind deflectors…

Pillar trims…

All done…

Also had this arrive yesterday…

Cream leather tonneau to match my new interior. Should come up nice with a good clean.

Genuine rain tray cover as my old one was in pieces!
