mk1 16v project
starters got the engine in
just thort id take a pic of how it sits with the new springs.
obviously I haven't driven it on these springs yet to see how it rides but for me the gap between the arches it waaaaaayyyyyyy to big so what im gonna do is change the bumpers to black powdercoated ones and then put arch trims round the arches to make the gap slightly less and plus id be able to space the wheels out which ive wanted to do for a while
oh and onto the bad part of the day…….
well over the past few night ive been trying to sort out the interior and decided I was gonna fit the rear seatbelts, the rear passenger side went fine but moved onto the drivers side and to my surprise there was no hole so what I did was chip away some of the paint to see if the hole had been filled over but hwat I found was not very nice…. I found a plate had been welding over the hole so I removed it and found this……….
im just gonna cut out the part where the rust is and reweld a plate in its place. I dunno what id do if my old man wasn't a welder. id of probly gone mad on this build by now

Dunno went on there :/ my fone had a bit of a fit and posted it before id finished lol i was gonna say i love that colour mate top choice i wished id of chose a better colour than silver when.doin.mine…… ah well maybe on the next one lol
Yeah, still going with the Miami blue, very happy with that colour. I think yours is gonna look great in silver, especially with the black wheels, maybe an orange trim on the grille? Will look spot on!!
Nightmare with the seat belt mounting, just when you think everything is sorted…. Always good to know a welder

Thought that might have been the case with the seatbelt mount, hope you don't have to remove too much metal for the repair, if it were me, I would strip that whole tub back to bare metal just to make sure there's nothing else hiding. It's a pain in the ass I know but probably worth investigating!

oh and also because im such an impulse buyer lol I didn't really like how the car was on them springs but didn't want to buy cheapy coilovers from ebay so I bought some ap adjustable damping coilovers which im very happy with
tooked away nicely in my shed cuz the mrs doesn't know about this purchase cuz otherwise I think I wudnt have my manhood left if she new how much they were lol gotta put these on somehow without her noticing ha ha ha
that's all for now, next on the list will be the seatbelt anchor point and sort the interior out
