Hey mate, wicked thread, some great inspiration for us all!
Was just checking out the Caswells website for the zinc plating kits, cant seem to find the kit youve used? Am i just being thick and is it that obvious? :redfaced: Also are the kits from the bay any good, as a couple of guys refer to these?
Keep up the good work, cheers Ash

Hi firstly well done on the engine its great.and you`ve given me the inspiration to start mine and im up to the starter motor and alternator and i was wondering if you have a step by step off strip down (for both)
Or do you know of one i could get hold of as i`ve never done them before.
it would be very helpful.thank you and good work.

See my blog, not a full guide.
I stripped my starter almost down to the bare bones and the alternator down to the front bearing casing and armature.
See the Haynes manual for morale support, they should have the model you have.
Hope this helps

More inspiration, this site has a few simliar threads ongoing, so good to see a nice cab aswell.
On reading threads about comments from the Mrs, I always find a good reply is 'A man without a hobby is unfaithful to his wife'
Good work!

This looks absolutely outstanding! I would love to do this to my engine when I get it out next week.
Just a quick question before I go out and buy a zinc plating kit,
Are there any other methods or just cleaning up the bolts without taking off the protective coating from the factory? I know they wouldnt look as good as this but at least they would be clean!
What about parkerizing? Is this process okay to use on the bits you have used the zinc plating on? Will it have the same protective effects from oxidization?
