Nice one yeah was a bit of a pain!! It stretched more than i thought it would think thats the trick with the corners.

I have been slack as over the past few weeks tho haha been waiting on some polly bushes which came monday..tryin to source a rear anti roll bar clamp too ,got to start on the engine next hope it will turn out as nice as yours!!!

Where and what paint did you use for the engine? do they do black?

small update been a little slack ha but these arrived the other day

And as i am a cheap skate ha i striped down my old waist trim so i can try and polish up the metal underneath… Soaked them in acetone for ten mins and the black rubbery paint pealed off real easy.. Think they will look quite good even if they dont polish up. .Brushed metal look!!

just read your comment now, the paint i used for mine was from frosts

http://www.frost.co.uk/automotive-paint/engine-enamel-paint.html

they do various colours including black, that one tin will do loads

Bit of an update been a long time! ha was thinking of selling up but i thought i have gone to far now and might as well finish it…

Lost my phone so i have lost some photos along the way! Got the engine out of the mk3 and put it on the stand ready for a strip down thought i might as well do it now when it is out! The abf has done 170k so probably a good idea and i can paint it all up nice at the same time..  Going to do all the valve seals and grind the seats clean all the ports out so should be running alot cleaner when it is done..  Not looking forward to tackling the loom tho looks a  bit tricky haha..

Start the strip down!!

Rocker off..

Head off and on the bench ready for a good clean up…

Before the clean with wire brushes and degreaser…

and after

Took a while to get 15 years worth of crap off should paint up quite well i think!

Also i bought this before christmas couldn't resist as it was going for cheap!! haha this is why i went off the project for a while i think..
