1990,1.8,karmann clipper/alpine white

she's havin a new cambelt and tensioners fitted during the repair, there was another part that was being changed to for new one but cant remember wot that bit was now, the head should be back from repair monday and expected to be finished and running by mid week nxt week, just in time for me to take her to a vdub halloween cruiz i'v been invited too thro milton keynes a wk on sunday…fingers crossed :mrgreen:

I said to you on the phone about the head could be corroded, your lucky it's still usable as some times they are scrap!

i know you did, i dont think i really realised exactly how or where when you said about it, it was only when they showed me i realised and understood it better.

how much would that of cost??…. i'd like to keep the cabby the way she is but when i eventually get a tin top to play wiv…..who knows!

garage should be getting the head back on monday so will hopefully recieve the call to tell me the heads repaired and skimmed, fingers crossed it wont be any bad news :|

update….. heads finally back, mechanics strarted rebuilding. the heads been weld repaired in two places and then skimmed, its also been steam bathed to de coke and clean the heads inside and out

lots of new rubbers, valve stem seals etc so its as good a rebuild on the top half

took a few photo's but realised some where to blury when i got home so put up the best two for now




car wont be ready for the wk end but should be ready earliest monday but should hopefully hav her back for tuesdays meet, atleast at the stage of being put back together :dance:

You know dude everything is up for sale at the right price  :angel:

Got her back from the garage tue night sump bolts done, timing done, carb tuned runs like a peach now, just need to fit new rad' some roof seals, sort those doors out !… & it goes on  :lol:

Argh, those doors drive me NUTS ! they are crooked-er than an MP fiddling their expenses at the weekend at their second home being paid for by the tax payer  :scratch: anyway…

serious drop-idge need some new pins I think, just making the time to do them

my drivers door did that, open the door slightly stand so you have the end of the door and lift the door from underneath you hav to lift quite hard so you lifting the wieght of the car and give it a couple of goes and try the door do it again try the door and so on….

funk-star did it on my drivers door it closes much better now, dont need to loosen any bolts  your just lifting the door, once you'v lifted the door you may hav to alter the latching pin on the shell as it may be set too low once you'v lifted it :wink:
