1.5 auto - 1.6d -1.9td

chris,youve got your work cut out,small block 4 speed to big block 5 speed, petrol to turbo diesel,everything is different,the mountings,exhaust,fuel supply gear linkages etc etc thats why i brought a diesel to start with……….after 12 months looking on ebay,also the electrics are different obviously,a glow plug system will be needed,and does the small block have the front engine mount/stabiliser?

dont need drive shafts all together and sorted now

just got to say bert cant help but hear your voice in my head as i'm reading your posts lol!!

just the zorst to do something with and an induction kit to bolt on.

bert i got the idle speed down in the end, and think i might see if i can sort out the water pump leak before i come over on sat as dont want to risk loosing to much and running dry!

got my sensors connected up and the oil light is on when ignition or and off when engine running any ideas?

heres that earth strap i had to install due to the old one not letting any power through?!?

bert the bolt nearest the camers is the one that has rounded of will see if i can get it off so i can sort the zorst if not will have to get you to see if you can do it and i will bodge zorst for now

tries to sort the exhaust but i got a section of flexi from local motor factors the right size (nearest) andclamep in on and she aint seeling at all and would need alot of gunk!!  so going tocut a section of an old back box and see if i can do something with that

just been out side to see how well she starts will everything frozen!

cold start lever out and turned over but wouldn't start!  went under bonnet and glow plugs not warm!!!  so i took jump lead from battery positive to the glowplug rail and she starte straight away!

i dont have any engine sensors connected

oil (either one) not connected yet (need sensor of the mk1 engine yet)
temp same as above


the temp guage wire goes straight to the dash via a red aftermarket wire. does this have anything to do with the glow plug relay or is it just oil temp it reads?

she's running lovely plenty of pick up and turbo sounds sweet!

just received a little nick nak in the post today a imeditly put it on!!!



i know she needs a wash just with all i been doing to her just one thing thats been forgotten about. any ways in a month or so she'll be painted a diff colour any ways

tbh thats un laquared paint on the boot and i think the dirt has actually soaked in!!! trust me when i say that the dirt is the least of my probs!! i got one grey front wing and a red one, a black bonnet thats peeling and has a v8 among other things drew on it in chalk which also wont wash off. but i love her and she will be painted all one colour soon so i aint to worried for the time being.

i changed the engine over on my insurance and the only charged me a ?41 admin fee for the change    i love classicle policy's

went down on sunday and he helped me undertand how the turbo works wat all the pipes do where i'm going wrong with the wiring by comparing rov2 with shelby. and i must say shelby made rov2 embarased and me lol

he fitted a new boost pin in the pump (modified standard one) and she is a lot quicker but still not quick enough lol. need to sort out the brakes and the traction before i tune her any more lol

i'm spinning in first and second with no efort. so i need to scrap the gti wheels in favour of something a little wider and  better rubber. i got some 14" steels and some 16" alloys may try and sort out some rubber for them and put them on. but a bit worrined the 16" are to big for what i'm after. will have to find out. brakes wise unsure what to do!  i dont want to go to big that i wont be able to put 13x8 ats classics on eventually but at the same time i dont want to have to smaller brakes that i end up with no stopping power again!

rally design do a 4pot kit with 249 discs that fit 13" rims. 16v servo and mc with these should be plenty.

just a quick update still sorting wiring but things are still unusual like heater fan now stoped working again!!!  still waiting on a 8mm spline tool from draper to be delivered so i can fully tighten my driveshaft bolts. speedo cable from the quiffmeister is fitted and working

been on rally sports website and now confused myself!!!

all there calipers are wilwood and 'universal'

just a quick update fay you all

have decided to leave her as is for now!!!!!  

been doing lots of research and thinking. to achive the hp i want alot of times got to be put into her. i have the k24 turbo for her i need a bigger exhaust, intercooler, injecors, brakes, ………. and so on.

so what i plan to do is over the next year (or 2) stockpile parts and cash. and when she goes in for her paint job while she is stripped then i will build the 150+ (near 200?) bhp diesel lump up and put in her with all new braked suspension drivetrain etc

so this thread will be dormant for a while will post pics of parts as i get them and poss refurb of parts as i do them

just a quick update. new dash in and painted.

the oil light still on when car is cold a goes of when warm. and new dash has no temp guage so i want to get one just to keep an eye on things.
