Email Notifications

I know it's been a main topic last few months but like others i'm still getting 20/30+ emails a day about topics i've posted in.
Now the only checked boxes i have are for PM's and i have the smart topic thing selected too..
I cleared my inbox on saturday morning and started to send this forums stuff to junk, checked my emails this morning and i had loads. More than i had for penis enlargement and PPI.
Now i don't want to delete my account or de-activate my email as i still need to use the forum and the PM function etc like everyone else.

Just really annoying.

Hi Phil,

You have a tick against 82 topics - they are not PM's/PT's they are the topics that you have posted in and/or asked to monitor by clicking the monitor button.

The system is behaving as you have asked it to and is emailing you when there is a new post to any of those topics that you have ticked.

I assume that those emails in your pic were for after you ticked the "Smarter Topic Notifications" box.

You have also unticked the "Automatically monitor content you have touched" - this is fine as long as you remember to click the monitor button on posts that you want to be notified about updates.

Most users have found that ticking "Smarter Topic Notifications" means that they only get notified about a new post once - visiting the site resets this so that you get notified once more when a new post arrives.
In your case you could receive up to 82 emails if all 82 get new posts. However if "Smarter Topic Notifications" is not ticked you could get many more depending on how many of your 82 monitored topics get multiple posts - some folk actually like this and use email to keep up to date without having to visit the forum as often.

Ive allways since the new forum had smart topic on. Ill see how it goes for a bit now there in junk its not as bad.
