I am in need of replacing the outer CV joint on my mk1, and there is 2 different types available on vw heritage.
I have a 20vt conversion with the larger 92mm inner flange, does the inner CV joint size effect the outer?
Cheers

Sorry I reckon its a 98mm inner flange, required for the conversion.

I know but the driveshaft and inner cv are different with the 20vt conversion, so not sure whether I need a different to the original for the car

It's the outer CV joint that I am need of though. Does the size of the inner joint alter the outer?

With the 20V T conversion, you use 100mm late cabby drive shafts, I'm guessing you would use the correct outer for a late cabby, no?

indeed as the man says, late 100mm gti cabby/rocco shafts = late cabby/rocco 100mm gti outer cvs. if it helps they're same as mk2 gti

Alright lads, Ive been and got the CV joint in the link today from eurocarparts for a late cabby.
http://www.eurocarparts.com/ecp/c/Volkswagen_Golf+Cabriolet_1.8_1990/p/car-parts/car-transmission/transmission-parts/cv-joint-kits/?657443251&1&c8dd660c1edd04a80507726b78bc78824b2d731f&000095
The spline and hub dia match up, but the overall size of it is alot smaller, my outer dia is 90mm whereas this is around 80mm. The boot is also to fit a smaller diameter driveshaft.
Can you help me which one it is that I need, as this was for a late cab.
Cheers!

My inner CV joint is 100mm dia and the outer 90mm. Is this correct?
